The owners of the Inn of the Beachcomber know what it’s like to be a guest at their inn. The first time they experienced the Beachcomber, they were guests themselves. They fell in love with the tranquil setting and spectacular ocean views but had one problem: there were no balconies. A year later, they bought the place and added generous 14-foot-long balconies—complete with Adirondack chairs—to many of the rooms.
- Walk down to the beach: It’s about 100 yards away.
- Cozy up in your room: Grab a DVD from the inn’s collection to watch in your room; your gas stove’s flame can provide extra warmth and ambiance.
- Quaint Inn the desk is only open until 9 p.m. If arriving late, please call the property in advance to make arrangements.

The secluded Gold Beach lies about 45 miles north of the California border, where the Rogue River meets the Pacific Ocean. It’s a relatively untouched spot on the Oregon coast, replete with gorgeous ocean vistas flanked by rocky headlands hiding just around every corner. Its namesake beach stretches for 2 miles and is well-suited for tidepooling and clamming. A short drive inland is the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest, and an hour’s drive south you can walk between the towering old-growth trees—some of the tallest on Earth—at Redwood National Park.
