Hotel at a Glance: Jaslin Hotel

Jaslin Hotel puts visitors smack dab in the beating, lantern-clad heart of Chicago’s Chinatown, which brims with authentic Asian shops and restaurants, including the award-winning Lao Sze Chuan. Its convenient location has a lot more going for it than the cool neighborhood surrounding it, though. It’s the perfect home base for exploring Chicago without having to stay directly in the suit-and-tie hubbub of the Loop, sitting within minutes of the Magnificent Mile, the city’s world-class museums, and the towering skyscrapers downtown.

  • Where you’ll stay: Elegantly simple guest rooms adequately prepare guests for long days on their feet with comfy pillow-top mattresses. The views of the Chicago skyline, meanwhile, distract gazes from the calming glow of 42” flat-screen TVs.
  • Stay connected thanks to the complimentary WiFi.
  • Fuel up for the day at the onsite Starbucks.
  • Get nice and cozy beside the lobby’s sleek, modern fireplace, which is surrounded by tufted leather couches that act as perfect perches for cracking open a book after a long day exploring the city.

Chicago’s South Loop: Historic Downtown Neighborhood near World-Class Museums and Lake Michigan

A cultural renaissance in recent years has seen Chicago’s South Loop turn into one of the city’s most vibrant residential and industrial centers. The downtown neighborhood is bordered on the north by Printer’s Row, a two-block stretch along Dearborn Street once known as the printing capital of the Midwest. Here you’ll find some of the buildings that made Chicago one of the world’s leaders in architecture in the 1880s and ’90s—a title it’s held ever since.

To the east lie Lake Michigan and the Museum Campus, a 57-acre lakefront park home to the city’s trio of natural-sciences museums. The Field Museum houses more than 21 million artifacts, including its most famous resident, Sue, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever unearthed. Bullfrogs, beluga whales, and moon jellies dwell at Shedd Aquarium, and stargazers will want to make a stop at Adler Planetarium. You don’t have to limit yourself to the Loop during your trip; check out our guide to Chicago public transportation for tips on navigating it like a local.

Very nice place on the cheaper side and well located! Very nice place and good pricing. It's on the cheaper size compared to other available hotels in Chicago but it's very well located (it has a couple of bus stops just in front and the L is only a block away, it took about 15 mins to get downtown via bus or the L), has a ton of nice restaurants nearby, the neighborhood felt pretty safe and it was very beautiful. The room was nice, although a tad bit smaller than we expected seeing the pictures jsdjs but still very good, comfortable and very very clean! the bathroom was amazing too and the shower worked perfectly. The Wi-Fi, too, was speedy and useful. It had a working fridge and a TV (though we didn't turn it on but we assume it was working jsjdjs). We didn't find it noisy but maybe it's because we got to the hotel dead tired every night. The only downside (? I would say is that maybe the staff weren't the most friendly jsdjs but they did help us when we needed it and solved our problems so I can't really complain too much about that. My friend and I traveled from Chile for Lollapalooza and stayed for 5 nights and 6 days. We mostly used the place to sleep only and didn't really spent much time inside but overall it was a really good experience and at a really good price! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a relatively cheap place that's also comfortable and well located but not in the centre of the city.

Great location, nice facility Great central location for visiting Chinatown. Close to the metro. Room pros included updated bathroom and mini fridge. Average cleanliness and noise level. It would've been nice if parking recommendations had been clear on the website or confirmation email, and if the hotel validated parking. We'd stay again!

Comfortable hotel several blocks from McCormick Place in Chicago The Jaslin Hotel provides comfortable moderate lodging several blocks from McCormick Place. To avoid the exorbitant fees of lodging at McCormick Place, I stay at the Jaslin Hotel. I allow half an hour to walk there for events. Cermak Road is a major thoroughfare so there is traffic all the time. I feel relatively safe walking on Cermak Road. I like the facility. The red subway line is a block away. Since this is in Chinatwon, there are many speciality shops nearby.
