Hotel at a Glance: Kalahari Resorts

Kalahari Resorts is home to a temperature-controlled indoor water park billed as the largest in Wisconsin. The family-friendly facility features rides and slides for all ages. Little ones can spend their time at the 5,000 square foot Tiko’s Watering Hole, which features activities and a kid-friendly lazy river. Older, more adventurous guests can hop on the Screaming Hyena–a trap-door start that descends into a near-vertical plunge. For those who prefer to relax, there’s plenty of places to unwind, from wave pools and lazy rivers to indoor and outdoor spas with jetted tubs.

  • Water-park thrills: Zip down the Victoria Falls raft ride, wade into the wave pool, drift down the lazy river, or take on the FlowRider surf ride; your stay includes admission passes for all registered guests.
  • Spend the night in a standard room, featuring flat-screen TVs and microwaves.
  • Onsite dining venues include a pizza kitchen and a Wisconsin Brew Pub. You can order food and drinks right at the water park if you’d like.
  • Tee off at the award-winning, 27-hole Trappers Turn Golf Club.
  • Have fun indoors with the included passes to the onsite theme park, with bowling, go karts, mini golf, and more.

Wisconsin Dells: Picturesque Scenery and Family Entertainment

Before the Dells became synonymous with water parks and amusement rides, the Midwestern destination’s claim to fame was its scenery. Visitors in the mid-1940s came to see the craggy rock formations that frame both sides of the Wisconsin River. These bluffs—or dells—are still visible today from the downtown area, which is rife with kitschy attractions, from mini-golf courses to go-kart tracks.

But it’s safe to say that most visitors nowadays come for the water parks. In fact, the Dells area likely has more water slides per capita than any other spot on the planet. The fun doesn’t stop in the cooler months, either, thanks to a slew of indoor aquatic centers, many of which are nearly as elaborate as their outdoor rivals.

Awesome place. We went in early October for a week and nearly had the place to ourselves. Staff was very friendly. Facilities were clean and well maintained. We are planning a return trip soon.

EXPENSIVE EXPERIENCE I think I have written two reviews in my life but had to in this instance. I have visited the Kalahari before and had a wonderful time. Now it seems that they are only about trying to pinch as much as money from you as possible. The cost of staying at this resort is already ridiculously expensive. However, once you are there, then you really start paying. $25 for one alcholic frozen drink (speciality cup) and $18 for refills. $7 for a slice of pizza. $10 for a pretzel with cheese. $50 for a pizza delivered to your room. $25 non refundable towel fee if you borrow one and don't return it to the waterpark before close of day (what is wrong with bringing it back to your room if you are at the same resort?). I went to eat breakfast while the kids were playing..the host told me it would be quick and I ordered eggs benedict and the restaurant was slow. It took half an hour and it was the smallest portion ever. Barely any potatoes and the English muffin was almost non existent. For this they wanted $14 and it was $5 for a 4 ounce glass of juice. My kids enjoyed the waterpark and the experience but that was the only good thing that came out of this experience for me. It seems they have turned into Disneyland and are all about the profit and how many people that they can fit into the park at the same time to nickel and dime you to death. Just like everything else in this country, it is all about the money. I am just disgusted and this will be our last stay at this resort.

Great park…dryers are awful Water park and hotel was great. My only complaint was there was only 2 sets of washer/dryers. The dryers take FOREVER to dry. My clothes are going one 1 hr and 30 min in the dryer and nowhere near dry and it’s 1:30am. If i knew this I would have never done laundry.

Great family fun. Great fun for the whole family and great food with several dining options right at the resort. We had a couple issues while on site but the resort was quick to resolve after we left, thank you Lily! Looking forward to another visit soon hopefully.
