Lake Powell: Year-Round Recreation Lake Surrounded by Towering Red-Rock Canyons

Lake Powell, which runs nearly 200 miles from northern Arizona to southern Utah, is one of the most scenic lakes in the country. Its sapphire-colored waters take on a glasslike quality during the colder months, and are ringed with towering sandstone cliffs. Much of the rocky shoreline and many rugged canyons are accessible to hikers. The cooler fall months, coming after the summer tourist season, offer a calm, quiet fishing oasis.

A handful of cultural and historical attractions are stationed along the lake’s shores. Visit Rainbow Bridge National Monument, one of the largest natural bridges in the world, and Glen Canyon Dam and Visitor Center, where guided tours detail the construction of the dam and the manmade lake.

Garbage hotel and staff This place is absolute garbage. They are sneaky. Their ads are extremely deceptive and their staff is rude and un accommodating. We will NEVER EVER BE BACK. I handed the manager my phone and asked him to find where it says the boat is for 1 night. He searched for 10 minutes and could not find it, said I was right and that he would not be giving me a discount because I booked the room and he doesn’t know why I booked it, that was on me! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. There are way better places outside the park and on the Utah side. After all the grief at the check in desk the hallway to out room is musty the rooms is out dated and not clean. $1600 for 3 nights at a Best Western type accommodation and a boat for 8 hours. Plus our sliding door doesn’t even have a lock. Cheapskates!

Not worth the Money! We have stayed at this resort many times and this last one will BE OUR LAST! We booked a room with powerboat for 2 nights. Our deposit was paid, but when we checked out, our bill was ridiculous! The email sent to us for a room including powerboat was NOT THAT AT ALL! We ended up paying for the powerboat and the gas to refill it upon return was $6.70 per gallon which totaled over $170.00. We were charged $200.00 in taxes, & fees. We did talk to the front desk, but to no avail. Read the fine print! Not clear, but beware before you book! This place is old & tired, not worth the money! The boats are worn out and terrible!

Budget Resort with Beautiful Scenery and decent amenities I have stayed at this resort many times because it is truly dog friendly. Having a park like setting is huge with grass and trees on a hot sunny day. Other DOG FRIENDLY hotels in the area just have dirt or fake grass to use. No trees what-so-ever. But the resort itself is outdated. Granted they have upgraded the bathrooms ..... finally, but the doors were merely painted with mold on the baseboards and the furniture is the original from 1990. If you have a National Parks pass, which gets you into all National Parks, it doesn't cost anything to get into the park/resort. But ... if you don't have a pass, the entry fee is good for 7 days. Even for Lone Rock Beach where many people camp. State Parks charge a daily fee. So to camp for a whole week in a National Park for only $30 - $35, not a bad deal. Back to the resort. What I couldn't find while loading and unloading my truck with jet ski gear, dog stuff and my stuff was a baggage dolly. They have some in other buidlings but I couldn't find one in Building Eight, which is right next to the trailers with watercraft parking lot. I have learned to bring my own portable freezer to keep ice packs frozen and an air fryer since the rooms do not have a microwave. Only a mini frig with no freezer and a single cup coffee maker. They do have restaurants but no in room service. The Wahweap Pizza place has excellent pizza but you had to walk there to place an order. Wait wasn't bad (about 15 minutes). What I absolutely hate about this place is the way they charge you. I paid for the room upfront and asked for my receipt the day before I left. The receipt said PAID IN FULL. But when I got back home I looked at my bank account statements and they had charged me another $48. I called and they said it was the resort fee of $16 per day. I argued that I didn't mind paying the fee but why wasn't it on my receipt that stated PAID in FULL. When I called the front desk to check out I asked if I owed anything and they said no. I may not ever come back to this resort but I have to admit, it is the best deal if you don't mind the run down rooms and the hidden fees.

Location, Location, Location Offers a stunning view over Lake Powell - the dining room could not have had a better location. Just stunning. The Resort is a little tired but is clean and serviceable, but it is all about location location location. Had a very enjoyable stay.

A Resort with the Best Pool View Ever. We found this to be an excellent place to stop on our National Parks tour. The resort was very attractive, clean, staff very accomodating and friendly. It has two pools that were very well maintained and remarkably quiet and with great seating areas for a few drinks. The view was to die for, honestly it is outstanding. I'm not posting a picture as it's better to get the wow factor yourself on arrival. Rooms were very clean & well maintained but we wished we had booked the lake view. Still the carpark gets the evening sun. The resort is so close to Page for access Upper Antelope Canyon (the same time zone) and Horse Shoe Bend. Restaurant was wonderful, rather expensive but good food. Shout to Catelin & Sheryl in restaurant, thank you for being so lovely. Limited choices for vegetarians/pescatarians.
