Panama City Beach, Florida: Sugar-White Beaches and College Spring Breakers

Panama City Beach’s slogan—“The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches”—may seem boastful. But TripAdvisor helped back up this claim in 2013, naming the local St. Andrews State Park as having 1 of the top 25 beaches in the United States. The park also has two fishing piers, a jetty, and a boat ramp, plus nature trails for bird watching. Elsewhere in town, you can arrange a scuba-diving trip to explore the area’s dozens of natural and artificial reefs.

Every March and April, spring breakers descend on the white-sand beaches and fill the streets outside dance clubs. The rest of the year, however, the atmosphere is more relaxed and geared toward families. There are numerous amusement parks along the 20-plus miles of shoreline. Many of the popular seafood restaurants and bars here overlook the Gulf of Mexico.

Avoid! If I could give this zero stars, I would. I come down to this beach multiple times a year. This is my first stay here as we normally stay at The Holiday Inn Express down the road which was sold out for this trip. Nightly room prices down here are astronomical right now and we paid $700 a night for this dump!! I can’t believe they are getting away with that! Where to start…..dirty linens upon arrival that were still full of sand. Towels that appeared to be washed but had clumps of hair all in them, one noisy A/C window unit and a second A/C window unit that didn’t appear to cool, broken chair on the balcony, a main door that appeared to have been pried open at some point, curtains not functional and broken, no towels at the pool, elevators with long waits and some that didn’t appear to be operating, etc. When asking for a thirty minute extension to our check out time we were told no, even though the day before when asking for check in they said to talk to them the morning of. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! I understand that things are busy now that we’re coming to the other side of Covid, but at these prices this is ridiculous! NEVER AGAIN!

Lack of service but right on the beach During a 5 day stay, I had room service once. Towels were only provided once for a family of 5 upon my request only. Towels were promised to be delivered immediately and only hours later showed up and I had to dry myself off with my own shirt. I requested a late check out and was told I could only do so the morning of. When I tried to do so the morning of, I was told that I should have done so the previous day as it was now too late. At the time of booking a continental breakfast was included but when I arrived I was told that there was no breakfast even though it was clearly stated on the website as I was speaking with the front desk. The hot tub was empty when I went to use. The elevator button was broke on my floor. The bathroom sink was leaking and the toilet was wobbly. The balcony view was absolutely beautiful though.

None The hotel is overpriced and not very clean. The room was fine but not in the best of shape. The parking is limited on the property. We had to park a block away at another property they own. Overall, very disappointed in the hotel.
