Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Marketplace. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

About a 10-minute drive north, you’ll find eight cultural institutions at Loch Haven Park, including the Orlando Museum of Art, which houses work by Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. The park is also home to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orlando Science Center, where you can a rover across a simulation of Mars or race on a 70-foot pinewood derby track.

Do NOT book here I arrived last night and requested 1st floor due to injury and fact I could NOT go up stairs. I was told there was no way to accommodate me. I was charged for hotel hold. I attempted to check room... the vestibule area is dark and not safe for older person unable to walk up stairs safely. I had to drive to pick up a family member to assist with a bag. I contacted JETBLUE who my vacation pkg was with JETBLUE instructed me to get a manager information and they booked another hotel that was willing to accommodate my needs with 1st floor or elevator. I go back to CHECK OUT within 1.5 hours of check in and then they tell me they will try to move around reservations.... I ALREADY REQUESTED THIS AT CHECK IN.... I guess they didn't want to accommodate... I politely told him (name I have omitted from review) I was already checked into another hotel because of their inability to accommodate my physical condition. I asked for receipt of check out and manager name. He said they will check room and gave me the email to the manager. I have yet to see refund of my deposit or hear from anyone. I advise that NO ONE STAY HERE this is a way to keep $ with an establishment that is not accommodating of physical inability to walk up stairs and to keep money for entire stay & deposit. I will be contacting my credit card company

2025 New Year's letdown! Had high hopes for this location. I had been here once before and it was decent. So I decided to book a hotel with 3 bedrooms for a party of 8. My family and I were to celebrate new years in Orlando this year. When I arrived at 5pm on 12/30/24, I was informed that hotels.com has overbooked the location and there was no room available for us. Nobody at Legacy or hotels.com bothered to reach out prior to the check in date to inform of the situation. I had a confirmation on the hotels.com app and via email. The desk person ( who should not work there anymore) did not even apologize. I told here that if I were one of those people who made a scene and started using profanity all over the place, they would do something about it. She just looked right through me and did nothing, not even a simple I am sorry for the inconvenience. We called legacy directly and were told that it was hotels.com's problem and hung up on my wife and I. We have stayed at the other location in Orlando multiple times and it had been great. Needless to say, this experience will be the last one we have at any of there locations because I will never book here again. Even if the problem is with another booking agency, the lack of communication between legacy and their vendors is ridiculous. This situation forced my parents to drive back home and my wife and I had to stay at another last minute location which was not comfortable at all. Legacy, you must fix this lack of communication. You cannot give 100% of the blame to other agencies and feel that you are providing your customers with the service and respect they deserve.

Bug infestation…. HORRIBLE This has been the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I gave this Resort a second chance and it completely disappointed me AGAIN… In May I stood in the Kissimmee resort , I requested a 1st floor because I was with Y mother who is 86 and had knee surgery. At check in they told me that they did not have any first floor so because they couldn’t honor my request they gave me complementary stay. So moving forward I use the complementary voucher for my Daughters birthday now in October. Upon arriving to the room i realized there was a leak next to the master bathroom, then I saw a roach on the wall. Amd the icing on the cake my son was sleeping in what was suppose to be the 3rd room. In the sofa bed,we found an infestation of bed bugs _ my son was all bitten up and the bites got infected. They proceeded to moving me to a newer unit. Which was another dilemma In the new unit the place was full of huge ants _ …… this was not the best experience I had to come home and wash everything it was a huge headache…. I feel like they put me in that old building because it was a complimentary certificate….
