Surpassed our expectations We spent 2 nights at the lodge recently and had a wonderful time. I was expecting it to be loud and a bit dirty since it was summer and it is such a great family destination. However - it was very clean and not at all noisy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast and dinner in the dining room twice - and that too surpassed our exceptions. The wait staff were very friendly and efficient - and the food was very good. We took the early morning boat trip - based on lodge recommendation - and were rewarded by seeing many alligators, turtles and birds - and even manatee. We will definitely return!

Grandkids mini-vacay The four teenage granddaughters voted to go to Wakulla Springs for our mini-vacation, which was fine with me-it's only an hour and a half away. I decided to make the trip extra special by spending the night at the Lodge; breakfast and the boat tour was included. We had a wonderful time. Accommodations were wonderful; staff was courteous; room was beautiful. Food was great, especially the hamburgers from the restaurant.

Quaint historic inn that places you in mid-20th century Florida The Lodge at Wakulla Springs is in Wakulla Springs State Park and is run by the State of Florida. It was built in 1937, and the rooms reflect this. They feature older fixtures and flooring, as well as antique furniture. The beds were not antique though, and very comfortable. There was no television in our room, and I assume it is the same way in every room. We felt this added to the experience, but others may find this dull. The restaurant downstairs was lovely, and the lobby features a running video of "Creature from the Black Lagoon", a classic 1954 film whose underwater scenes were shot in the crystal clear waters of Wakulla Springs. We had a great time on the night we stayed. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I could see running out of activities in the park after a day or two and it didn't appear there were many activities in the surrounding area. If you are looking for modern luxury, this hotel is not for you. If you are looking for old Florida and a unique historical experience, you will love this place.
