Palm Coast, Florida: Miles of Coast near St. Augustine and Daytona Beach

As one of Florida's newest cities (it wasn't incorporated until 1999), it may be easy to overlook Palm Coast in favor of its more famous neighbors, St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. But look a little closer, and you'll see that the town has its own draws. The coastal city enjoys 70 miles of shores along Florida's coastline and, within the city itself, over 125 miles of walking and biking trails. Explore the trails at the Washington Oaks Gardens State Park to spot native and exotic plant species and tropical birds, or stroll along the Intracoastal at Waterfront Park to spot dolphins and waterfowl.

Should you choose to make the trek to a larger town, consider taking the 90-minute drive to Orlando. There, you can check out the Kennedy Space Center, the world’s only public space-launch area, where NASA sent shuttles into the stratosphere in front of thousands of spectators.

Avoid the Sandpiper Tiki Bar--Food Poisoning Risk After a wonderful morning at the beach on our first full day of our vacation, my husband, myself, and two children ages 4 and 6 ate lunch at the Sandpiper Tiki Bar on Sunday, June 16 (Father's Day). My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi sandwich and became ill 4 hours later. We were forced to cancel our dinner reservations that evening, and were very close to rescheduling our family photos the following day at 7 AM. It made for a stressful and unpleasant start to our vacation. My husband reported the incident to the Marriott in-person and received a verbal apology. Staff members assured him that it would be taken care of. After almost two months, several phone calls, and empty promises later, nothing has been done. He has been assured that the amount was credited back to his card many times. We are extremely disappointed with the back and forth and no longer trust this issue will be taken care of properly by Marriott staff. Bottom Line: Avoid. We come to Hutchinson Island regularly. We will never return to this eating establishment. As a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member, my husband wants a refund. However, it is almost two months later and he has yet to receive any compensation.

Third visit First I’d like to thank the true warm Hospitality of : Gitana (F&B) , Dakota, Abigail and Kevin from Front desk and Pierre from shuttle transportation. It was a seamless stay ! They accommodated our requests accordingly and with a genuine smile. I am probably forgetting some names too, but I will definitely come back to this property as this is my 3rd time here. Kudos to the team, thank you Marriott Hutchinson island !!

Great time! Will be back! The views were fantastic & the beach was relaxing. There was noise from construction but they did warn us of this & gave us the option to stay at their main hotel! We’re glad we stayed at the beach tower, the views were amazing and it was a short walk to breakfast on the beach in the morning. Shoutout to the staff that made it so amazing including Emily, Dakota, Craig, and Sean! Highly recommend!

Disappointed Disappointed! Not the Marriott I know. Is currently under renovation, the Marriott website states “Fully renovated”. First, we were told both tiki bars and restaurant are closed due to renovations, although the tiki bar at Sandpiper Tower will be open Saturday and Sunday. We are in the Sandpiper Tower, which is under renovation and noisy. We have a condominium room, the carpet is worn and stained, the sliding glass door to the balcony is very hard to open and lifts off the track, the balcony has a large puddle of water, there are plates and cups, although no silverware, the bathroom has the shortest toilet in the world. Not happy campers, but are only here until Sunday and will make the most of it.

Horrible Rude Staff I had a horrible experience here! The staff at check in were so rude. The place is old and run down. We stayed here 2 years ago and loved it, but our experience yesterday made me cancel and leave. We found the nicest resort a couple miles from there it’s called Hutchison Island Resort and Spa. The people here are over the top friendly. Needless to say. We will never be back to Marriot!
