Resort guests can enjoy mountain views whether they're teeing off on the golf course, strolling around the shores of Lake Siskiyou, or dining at the onsite restaurant.

  • Private chalets are nestled in the forest. Inside, knotted-pine trimmings, natural-stone hearths, and botanical art imitate the landscape.

  • Highland House Restaurant: Dine while admiring views of the golf course from the patio or second-story dining room.
  • Play a round of golf on the resort's 18-hole course, which stretches from the main lodge along hilly terrain at the base of Mount Shasta. Closed seasonally, January 1 - March 31.
  • Get pampered with a massage or facial at Sacred Mountain Spa.
  • Stay connected with friends and family using the resort's free WiFi available at the Clubhouse and lodging rooms.

Mount Shasta, California: Mountain Town near Pine Forests, Rivers, and Waterfalls

The town of Mount Shasta is located in northern California, about 60 miles south of the Oregon border. An idyllic landscape of pine forests, mountain streams, and waterfalls unfurl in the shadow of the town’s namesake landmark, Mount Shasta. Standing at more than 14,000 feet above sea level, the dormant volcano is the second-highest peak in the Cascade Range and the principal draw for visitors. Dozens of paths—ranging from easy, low-elevation trails to arduous glacier climbs—attract thousands of hikers every year. The rivers, streams, and lakes surrounding the mountain make for some of the best freshwater fishing in California, and the nearby Mt. Shasta Ski Park encompasses 425 acres of downhill skiing and snowboarding. Whether you visit in the winter or the summer, keep an eye out for wildlife, including mountain lions, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons.

Recreation options aren’t just limited to Mount Shasta. You can go whitewater rafting on the Upper Sacramento River, explore dozens of caves formed by lava flows at Lava Beds National Monument, and hike through Castle Crags State Park. Some spectacular waterfalls are sprinkled throughout the region, including McArthur-Burney Falls, whose 129-foot cascade flows strong all year long.

The cleanliness, the size, and how attractive the room was. The staff also gave me a room all to myself - there were no guests in the adjoining rooms which made for a quiet, comfortable stay. I cannot wait to return. I really loved this place!!

Perfect for Families Our family had a wonderful time. We stayed here as a stopover to Oregon from the Bay Area. The kids enjoyed swimming in the lake in front of our place. We loved the cabin cozy feel of the resort. The restaurant at the resort was delicious. We enjoyed the view and serenity of the area. We will definitely come back!

Lovely Chalet Overlooking Lake Siskiyou Spent 3 nights on a girls weekend. We chose the place for its view, two rooms and proximity to activities. The lake view chalet was great--two bedrooms (one en suite, one with use of large guest bath), full kitchen (limited supplies), living and dining rooms, deck/balcony, and gas fireplace. Parking is not covered, but close enough to the chalet. Beds were comfortable and the place is quiet. Lovely views of Lake Siskiyou below. Note that water access is best nearby the resort; a steep embankment is below the chalets. Hiking trail right below chalets takes you all the way around the lake. The restaurant and golf course are not immediately on site, but a short drive or 10 minute walk away. The restaurant is nice and has great views and big windows. The only drawback is that the kitchen is minimally stocked with cooking gear, so bring what you need. We enjoyed Casa Ramos in town for Mexican Food.

Good base for exploring Shasta The hotel is not really a hotel - it is a set of individual chalets, actually cabins. We had a two bedroom lake view unit. The unit was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Often places like this smell musty or have noticeable small dings and chips. This one did not. Could it use a bit of a refresher with more modern furniture? Yes, but it was very comfortable and pleasant. We were looking for a base to use for exploring the Mt. Shasta area. The resort fit that bill perfectly. The Lake Siskiyou trail is right outside the front door, Lake Siskiyou and its kayaking and beach are a 4 min drive, downtown Mt Shasta is 8 min away, and multiple hikes are near by. My only suggestion is that the front desk staff might be a bit more knowledgeable about the area. But that is a minor quibble. We will be back.
