Downtown Boston: Revolution-Era Landmarks and Modern Skyscrapers

Downtown Boston is home to one of the country’s wackiest city layouts. Its colonial-village lanes converge, split, and take hairpin turns, creating a maze of cobblestone that, though frustrating for drivers, makes for a fun walking experience. If you’re visiting for the first time, the best way to navigate the area is to follow the 2.5-mile-long Freedom Trail, which takes you past 16 historical landmarks, including Paul Revere's home, Old North Church (of “One if by land, two if by sea” fame), and Faneuil Hall. You can use Boston public transportation to explore the city if you tire of walking.

Since the area is also the city’s financial district, centuries-old fixtures share sidewalk space with modern 40-story office towers. You’ll find suit-clad professionals grabbing lunch on Washington Street, which is lined with street vendors and flower shops. Downtown is also where you’ll find several of the city’s quirkier neighborhoods, such as the Leather District. With its rustic warehouses, the neighborhood is the closest example of what the business center looked like in the 1800s.

Moxy Boston Alyssa is amazing. I wish I knew everyone’s name to high 5 them too. Very clean place lots of fun. Unfortunately the bartender was a total jerk. He was so bad that a couple went to the front desk to complain about how he was treating my friend. She did not want a plastic cup and he made fun of her to her face and to other guests. Lucky the food is separate from the Marriott Corp. I have never seen anything like that. But the Moxy employees made up for it.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE Loved our stay at Moxy Downtown Boston. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always patient and helpful even when we were exhausted upon our late arrival. The Boho Chic decor was fun and interesting. We were walking distance to the commons with multiple dining locations in the area including no less than 4 Starbucks. The room was a very small but, the view and the shower were both incredible. The staff was very accommodating and gave us a room on a higher floor to mitigate outside noise as this is in the middle of the theater district. They provide earplugs in the room but, we didn't use them. There was also a white noise machine in the room. There are no amenities in the room such as coffee or a mini-fridge but there is free coffee available on the main floor. The incidentals costs are offset by food and drink coupons that have to be used in house but, at least that's something. The food was good and the service was great. There is a decent exercise room although I didn't get an opportunity to use it. We got plenty of exercise walking around and I did some running while there as well. The "Freedom Trail" begins in the commons so you are at the beginning in less than 5 minutes. It's also only a few blocks to the finish line for the Marathon. Overall, the Moxy made our four days in Boston fantastic. I would definitely recommend highly.

Refreshingly different Nosy is a different experience. I’m 78 and accustomed to Marriott old style (coffee in room, larger room, finished ceiling, bellhop, etc). Moxy is plain- but nice. Down to earth. Quality essentials. Will definitely plan another stay at Moxy
