Virginia Beach, Virginia: Award-Winning Boardwalk and Seaside Museums

English settlers from the Virginia Company of London first stepped foot onto American soil in what is now Virginia Beach, Virginia. They would go on to found Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement, along the James River. But before they left the shoreline, they erected a cross on the spot where they had disembarked. Today, the First Landing Cross commemorates this momentous event. Needless to say, a lot has changed in Virginia Beach since the 1600s. The seaside town has become a family-friendly destination known for supersize beaches and a 3-mile-long boardwalk dubbed one of America’s best by Travel + Leisure.

A nice get away. Similar to apartment space. One complaint would be the mattress.

NEVER STAY HERE! Nasty location! Don't be fooled by photos online. We had a room with stained carpet, damaged furniture, yellow urine looking stains on curtains, sewer backed up in shower when husband was taking a shower and it took 2 days for them to repair. Very poorly managed hotel. Sewer smells in hallways. Horrible facility!!!

To expensive for what you get Daily resort fee for parking and wifi. Wifi is very slow and it doesn’t even cover they entire room. TV is not in HD…. And that in 2024. Check in is really slow. Parking is not onsite but in a garage near the property. Plus: free laundry service and the room is clean. Don’t recommend staying here since there are better options in the area.

Disappointing stay The Hilton or Trip advisor did a bait and switch on my friends and I this week. I booked and paid for a three bedroom ocean front beach rental for 2 days for a special 70th birthday celebration. At Check In the front desk could not find my reservation even though I had confirmation and proof of payment through my bank. After much arguing they said they would have to contact Trip Advisor to figure things out. After the first 1 1/2 hours of waiting we asked at least for a parking pass so we could have lunch. They would not comply because they said we did not have a reservation!!! I had just proved and provided them my confirmation and payment info. That was not good enough for them!! Front desk clerk was rude to us and said we were not comprehending what she told us and that we ladies were asking her to do something illegal!!! Oh my goodness we only requested someplace to park while they figured everything out with Trip advisor. She then snidely repeated that we wanted her to do something illegal (a temporary parking pass!) to another clerk who was trying to help us!! I am sure they could have given us a parking token or suggestion for parking. When we came back after they said all was okay and that our room was ready. I was handed keys to a city view 3 bedroom. I said Absolutely not because I paid for ocean front and it was a birthday getaway for friends and had booked weeks in advance. Was then told there was nothing they could do about it because it had come thru from Trip Advisor as a City-view, and that they had no ocean front available. Remember I just said that I had confirmation of what I booked fromTrip advisor and payment confirmation from my bank. After another hour or so of arguing with a Manager we were finally given a 2 bedroom and a separate 1 Bedroom Unit on the same floor but not next to each other. They had previously repeatedly told us they had no Ocean front available. I really believe they did not think we would stand up for what is the right thing, and that being we wanted what we had paid for a 3 bedroom Ocean Front rental. Their eventual offer was not what we booked but at this point we had no choice but to take the rooms and no idea at that time who to contact at Trip advisor. The next morning I spend another 1 1/2 hour on the phone trying to find someone to help us at Trip advisor. Trip Advisor offered a 10 percent refund and that was all they would do. I truly believe there is something wrong or shady with booking system with Trip advisor and the Hilton. They both blamed each other. Although Trip advisor did confirm that I had a confirmation from them and that something happened when it was sent to Hilton??!! Don’t know what to believe because both places contradicted themselves many times! All in all it was 5 hours of vacation time wasted! I will never stay at Hilton or book on Trip Advisor again. Oh..and I just found out that I was charged resort fees for both days when the manager of the Hilton Beach Club at VA Beach assured us that because of our inconvenience we wouldn’t be charged!!
