Hotel at a Glance: Omni San Diego Hotel

Recent renovations to the Omni San Diego Hotel have paid off in a big way: In 2017, the hotel won AAA’s Four Diamond award, TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence, and was named one of the best hotels in Southern California in the Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards in 2017. Conveniently located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, the hotel sits across the street from the San Diego Convention Center, adjacent to Petco Park, and next to the L Street Fine Art gallery.

  • The press says: Fodor’s calls the hotel “a modern masterpiece” and says that “with its vaulted ceilings and modern-clubby furniture, the lobby is simply stunning.”
  • Where you’ll stay: Newly renovated guest rooms overlook downtown San Diego or the Gaslamp Quarter.
  • Fresh seafood and aged steaks: Dig in at the on-site McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant.
  • Grab a beer at Zumbido, with a great choice of San Diego’s local craft brews on tap.
  • Need a dinner recommendation? Visit the concierge, a member of the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or organization.

San Diego, California: Electric Nightlife and Historical Attractions

San Diego’s sunny, comfortably warm weather and 70 miles of coastline have long attracted out-of-towners, but the city’s inland scene is no slouch, either. The Gaslamp Quarter is arguably the trendiest listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The area forms both the historic center of town and a hub of nightlife, with nearly 100 Victorian-era buildings occupied by high-end boutiques and gourmet restaurants.

A stroll through iconic Balboa Park takes you past 17 museums, as well as the world-famous San Diego Zoo. There’s also the vibrant Spanish Village Art Center, a living gallery where local artists produce pottery and oil paintings. In Old Town, shops in Mission-style stucco buildings sell colorful woven baskets and maracas. Nearby stands the Whaley House Museum, dubbed one of the Most Terrifying Places in America by the Travel Channel. Ghosts of former residents are said to inhabit the rooms, which are filled with Victorian furniture and eerie dolls.

Yes, this says it all. I have a queen bed at home and found that 3 people (5-year old included) could sleep on a king and still have room. Totally worth the price paid for the location.

Fantastic Stay! From check in to check out, Omni SD made me feel welcomed and appreciated. The rooms are comfortable and modern and the pool is a fun place to spend some time, especially on a Saturday when a DJ spins tunes. We found the food at this hotel to be some of the best and the service was top-notch. In addition to all of that, the location of this Omni could not be better!

Messy This place was extremely messy from a room standpoint. The thermostat in my room is broken, the water pressure was low, and the hairdryer was broken. The good part was at the staff was friendly however had to call engineering three times to get them to address the temperature in the room.
