Resort at a Glance: Oyster Bay Beach Resort

The Caribbean island of Sint Maarten serves as the setting for vacationing at the tropical Oyster Bay Beach Resort. Here, guests can start the day with a refreshing dip in the infinity pool, which was built on an old coral reef and was named as one of the top five pools in the Caribbean by Travel+Leisure magazine. After swimming a few laps it's best to revive the spirits at the resort's restaurant serving international cuisine on the outdoor terrace overlooking the ocean. Those who wish to explore the island of Sint Maarten can take a stroll to the nearby Dawn Beach or head to Oyster Bay Marina and observe nautical operations. Adventurers can try many of the island's day trip opportunities such as deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

  • Sleep well in suites featuring king-size beds, flat-screen TVs, WiFi, and fully-equipped kitchens.
  • Make a splash in the infinity pool and relax or soak in the adjacent spa tub.
  • Dine and wine at resort's restaurant serving international cuisine with stunning views of Oyster Bay Marina.
  • Quench your thirst at the poolside bar featuring stylish marine decor.

Sint Maarten: Scenic Shorelines, Lively Nightlife, and Boutique Shopping

The island of Sint Maarten, located just south of Anguilla in the Caribbean, was ranked on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the Best Islands in the World for its “soaring mountains and beautiful shorelines.” This gorgeous topography has been peacefully shared by the French and the Dutch for more than 350 years, giving the island two very distinct yet harmonious personalities. Both parts of the island, however, feature crystal-clear bays filled with fascinating coral structures and tropical fish. On the French side, it’s worth it to take a guided snorkeling trip through Creole Rock, which has a collection of boulders encircled by reefs. Dolphins, eagle rays, and barracudas are frequently spotted here.

The Dutch side is known for its quiet beaches and lively nightlife. Maho Village has its fair share of casinos, and nightclubs here host steel-drum bands and oceanfront bonfire parties late into the night. At the Maho Promenade, situated in the center of town, 40 duty-free boutiques sell fine jewelry, watches, and handsome handicrafts. Most shops, cafés, and restaurants stay open until 11 p.m., so you can enjoy a nightcap amid open-air patios as musicians and dancers perform nearby.

Where Do I Begin? I’m the type of traveler that obsessively searches for photos, reviews, YouTube videos etc, of the place I’m staying before a vacation. I’m not terribly high maintenance, although I won’t stay in some dirty dump. I enjoy luxury, I’m just not fussy about small issues. I was concerned about Oyster Bay because based on these reviews, I felt like it could go either way, even though they were overwhelmingly positive. Let’s just say the pictures don’t do this place true justice. It is beautiful and it is CLEAN. The staff really takes pride in this gem by the sea. The current on this side of the island is strong. There is a lot of seaweed that washes up on the tiny Dawn Beach next to the resort, but it’s nature. I honestly wasn’t bothered at all. They clean it daily but you can’t outdo mother nature and she wants seaweed on Dawn Beach so what are you going to do? Despite the seaweed and rough current the water is so mesmerizing you can stare at it for hours. Turquoise blue water thrashing about as the tide comes in is simply exquisite. To get to Dawn Beach you must pass through the entrance to The Veranda Bar/Restaurant. It sits right on the water. It also happens to be part of the small grocery store on the property. (This grocery store has everything you need, except coffee creamer) They serve the best Danish apple turnovers you’ll ever eat. I had one for breakfast everyday. If you just want to drink, eat good food, listen to good music and watch the water, Veranda is your spot. How I miss it. Our room was spacious and most importantly CLEAN. I mean, really clean. Our housekeeper Rose was so amazing. She tended to the room every day. Make sure to take care of your housekeeping attendants. Our view was unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever had a view that spectacular. The pool is fabulous too. Never crowded and a beautiful view of St Barths. Although you do have to go to the bar and get your own drinks. I didn’t see anyone come around. I will say the bartender lady could have been a bit nicer but that’s a small thing. The resort decor is a bit dated. As is obvious from the photos it’s stuck in Palm Beach 1998. lol. But it’s charming. There’s a lot of older folks here. 55 - 85. This isn’t a party resort at all. But they have fun activities and get togethers. And I love the lobby area. So adorable. The resort offers Island Tours and access to take boats over to St Barths and Antigua. Oyster Bay is close to the French side (best food is on the French side, imo) The resort is 15 minutes from the downtown area near the airport but I prefer that. I’d rather take a taxi easily arranged by the hotel ($30pp RT) and go to the beach for the day then come back to my fabulous, quiet, relaxing resort at Oyster Bay and drink by the Veranda watching those beautiful waves thrash onto the shores of Dawn Beach.

Oyster Bay is the Best! We had an absolutely wonderful time at Oyster Bay. All the people who work here are gorgeous inside and out. Yasmin, Yolanda, Phillipe, Neesa, and Justin the bartender made our trip so spectacular. The handsome front desk guy gave me a goodbye hug when we checked out! I love the look of this place. The beautiful turquoise walls make it stand out and the decor inside is all turquoise as well. It makes it feel like a peaceful, tropical oasis. The location is great. Highly recommend renting a car. It’s a piece of cake driving around the island and everyone’s super nice on the road. We went to BZH for dinner, which wasn’t far at all and was so good. We end up going twice. The French bakeries are outstanding. We went on Captain Alan’s boat trip to Anguilla right from the resort , and it was one of our highlights of the trip. The resort did September to Remember and it was a cute Egyptian theme all week and they dressed like Pharoahs. It was adorable. Love St Maarten and love Oyster Bay Resort!
