Toronto, Ontario: Scenic Trails, Boutique Shopping, and the Hockey Hall of Fame

Toronto is known as a wonderful walking city with eclectic neighborhoods and miles of waterside parkland. Set on the shores of Lake Ontario, the city’s scenic hiking and walking trails wind along the harbor front. From there, a northerly stroll leads to the Fashion District, where warehouses and old factories that sat empty for years now house upscale restaurants, galleries, and boutiques. A bit farther north lies Kensington Market, a bohemian village rife with vintage shops and organic-food markets.

Toronto may be home to Canada’s best collection of museums. Hockey is a national pastime, so it makes sense that the Hockey Hall of Fame is here. Its centerpiece is the hallowed Esso Great Hall, home to the Stanley Cup and portraits of all inductees. Science buffs can stop at the Ontario Science Centre to delve into space at the planetarium or touch a plasma ball at the Science Arcade. The Art Gallery of Ontario exhibits an astounding collection of work from Canadian artists and European masters in a Frank Gehry–designed building that centers on a circular floating staircase.

We go to Toronto a few times a year and had no idea about this hotel. We stay at the Royal York downtown because we like the location. Although the location is just slightly farther away - it's still well within walking distance to all of downtown. The staff is extrememly friendly and helpful - wonderful from check in to departure. Hotel appearance is excellent. Overall nothing could have been done to make it better. We will definately come back again - loved it!!

FYI, a Ford 150 Raptor can't fit in the underground valet parking. Have a list of suggested venues, nightlife spots or restaurants readily available for out of town guests. (eg: Massey Hall is right across from Hotel and George Thorogood was playing on the night I arrived. If I had known, I would have tried to get tickeets to go)

Great location and service I've stayed a few times for business. Rooms are bright, clean and spacious. Location is great. Service at reception desk is great (Thanks Pella) and friendly floor staff (Shirley). Everyone member of staff I interacted with, each time I've stayed, has been happy and knowledgeable - and it says something that there are familiar faces again and again.
