A steady choice for a centrally located hotel in NYC Having read a lot of these reviews I was nervous to say the least, to the point of looking to move hotels.
To the point, this is a large centrally located hotel that caters large parties to family stays, if you’re looking for 5 star amenities this isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a well located hotel with comfortable beds, daily cleaning (to a high standard) and a good hot shower go for it.
Yes the hotel is tired, it’s been knocked around a bit but if you see beyond that it does exactly what it says it does. We got a great fridge upon request, we tipped daily the cleaning staff as they did an exceptional job. We had no issue with smoke fines and we expected the resort tax so that wasn’t a shock.
One thing that we did find a bit of a frustration are the lifts - but being patient and avoiding “rush” hour times we coped.
All in all - we had a good 6 night stay - it met expectations and served our purpose.

Avoid, avoid, here’s three reasons why As a well travelled guest, I found this hotel to be very poor on several points. First, there is an hidden ‘destination’ charge in addition to city tax etc of $40 per person per day. I asked what the benefits were and was shown a list that included use if a basic gym (advertised as being part of the room rate), discounts in their own restaurant, a ride on a bike and discount on city bus tour. I did not want these and it was poor value and a true rip off. Second, there is no decent place to get food in the hotel, the in hotel lounge/bar is scruffy and uncared for and the restaurant area was hired out for the two days I was there for a private booking. Thirdly, room servicing was poor (no cups in bathroom, bed not remade) and very worn. The bed was very comfortable. Fourthly, to note the hotel is significantly used by school groups and often very busy, i cannot recommend this place and advise others should avoid it, sadly. It’s a hotel thats being used as a cash cow, no customer focus.

Stunning hotel in the heart of New York An absolutely stunning hotel, perfectly situated a stones throw from Central Park to the left and a short stroll to Times Square and the Broadway theatres etc to the right. This was our second stay, and once again, the hotel exudes that timeless, sophisticated New York charm from the moment you walk through the doors. A subtle, elegant aroma welcomes you in, complemented by genuinely warm and attentive staff who greet every guest with a smile.
The bar located behind reception is just as classy offering great atmosphere.
The rooms are impressively spacious, offering both comfort and style, with a wide selection of TV channels for winding down after a day in the city. This hotel truly embodies everything one could hope for in a New York stay. Without a doubt, it will remain our go-to choice whenever we return to the city.
