  • Treat yourself to a massage or facial at the on-site G Salon.

Providence, Rhode Island: Historical Haven for Foodies and Arts Enthusiasts

Home to Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, and Rhode Island School of Design (or RISD) among other schools, Providence is known as an educational hub. But with an active arts scene, the city has more recently been called “The Creative Capital.” Downtown, you’ll find the arts-and-theater district, where galleries and vibrant storefront displays line the streets. Stagecraft thrives at the Tony Award–winning Trinity Repertory Company, and nearby, the Providence Performing Arts Center hosts touring Broadway shows.

The city’s restaurant scene rivals the arts scene in its creativity and local enthusiasm, from the enclave of Italian eateries on Federal Hill to the delis downtown. Local chefs often draw from the regional farms bordering the city for their culinary creations; many gather downtown to shop at the farmers’ market.

Strangely worded question. There was only two of us but it was big enough to be able to fit three if we were kinky

Manager Vincent at the Bluefin Grill makes the best dirty martinis ever! His service was impeccable! Great personality, an asset to the Marriott! If you are in town stop by the bar because you won’t regret it

Choose rooms wisely I'll write more later abut the entire experience but wanted to get this out there before someone else books without knowing about the rooms.... There is a renovated section and non-renovated section of this hotel. If you book with just points only the non-renovated rooms show up. I have never stayed here so I didn't know there was a renovated section until I got here. Sometimes it's ok that rooms are not renovated to 2021 standards but these non-renovated rooms are like being at a roadside motel. The rooms smell, AC doesn't work or are so loud you hear them kick on all night long, toilets don't flush properly, beds make noise every time you move...not a pleasant nights sleep. If you choose to spend the money and not use points, you'll get the option of picking the renovated or non-renovated room(which actually don't look bad in the pictures.). Trust me, spend the extra money to stay in a renovated room!!!!

Not my typical Marriott stay We stayed in the older part of the hotel. It’s tired and in need of an update. We switched rooms at arrival, first room had broken light fixtures and stains on furniture and bed linens. Second room was clean but not great. Mattress sags, bathroom cramped and outdated. No safe in room. The hotel offers special rates to groups - there is a youth baseball / softball tournament in town so tons of families. The lobby was busy. If looking for a more subdued stay, go elsewhere. I’ve stayed in hundreds of Marriott properties, this was one of my least favorite. I know it’s been a tough go the last sixteen months, but people are traveling, make an investment in fresh towels, mattresses and bedding. The small stuff matters.
