Hotel at a Glance: Red Agave Resort

ABC News once named Sedona one of the most beautiful places in America and, at Red Agave Resort, visitors are perfectly situated to see why. From the resort’s front door, guests can look out into the distance to see the Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, formations made out of a deep red rock. And at sunset, view-seekers are in for a treat when the sky lights up with color as the sun retreats behind the rocky horizon.

  • Whip up breakfast in bed: Each studio and chalet come equipped with a fully-equipped kitchen that you can use to make meals right in your room.
  • Roast marshmallows and sing campfire songs at the resort’s bonfire.
  • Hike and bike through Coconino National Forest, which can be accessed by a trail mere steps outside the hotel’s courtyard.
  • Buy a handmade necklace at the charming Tlaquepaque Village, an outdoor shopping center designed in the style of a traditional Mexican village.
  • Go on a safari: About 30 minutes away, the Out of Africa Wildlife Preserve houses giraffes, lions, and other animals that visitors can see on a safari-style tour.
  • Bring Fido: Dogs are welcome for $60 per pet, per stay. Please call the property prior to booking to ensure a pet-friendly room is available for your puppy pal.
  • The pool and hot tub area is closed for January and February due to remodeling, but is slated to have a zero entry walk-in pool and new hot tubs once construction is completed. The courtyard area remains available for use.

Sedona, Arizona: Majestic Rock Formations and Quirky Arts Community

Surrounded by a band of red sandstone formations, Sedona boasts a breathtaking natural skyline. Head to the 3.2-mile Airport Loop hiking trail for views of famous outcroppings such as Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte. About 10 minutes outside of the city at Slide Rock State Park, you can barrel down a natural water slide and see a preserved turn-of-the-century homestead.

Since around the 1960s, artists have been drawn to Sedona’s majestic landscape and cubist street signs. Although the arts scene has dwindled a bit in recent years, the city’s creative spirit is still very much alive at Gallery Row, where more than 50 art shops and boutiques sell pottery, jewelry, and metalwork.

About Red Agave Resort

Sedona is known for its chiseled red rocks rising out of the Sonoran Desert. Two iconic sandstone formations, Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, are visible from the A-frame chalets of Red Agave Adventure Resort. Inside each freestanding, two-story chalet, you'll find flat-panel cable TVs and free WiFi. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, electric range, oven, and a microwave, as well as plates, cups, and various utensils. The chalets are clustered around a spacious central courtyard, which features a heated in-ground pool and two hot tubs. Come nightfall—weather permitting—the fire pit crackles to life with a glowing campfire as guests munch on s'mores and sing folk ditties in harmony with coyote howls.

TripAdvisor recently named Sedona the second-best spot in the world to catch a gorgeous sunset. Visitors can experience the beauty firsthand as they hike and bike across trails surrounding dramatic rock formations, such as Cathedral Rock. Then, after a long day of activity, they can relieve sore muscles at one of Sedona's many spas. About 5 miles from the resort, in the heart of Sedona, lies Tlaquepaque Village, a collection of 40 art galleries, shops, and small eateries designed after a small Mexican village.

Paradise What an incredible place. First of all, the view of Bell Rock and surrounding buttes is simply stunning. We stayed here for a week, and experienced consistently great service. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, and have all needed amenities (including a convection oven microwave). The only way to describe this place is... paradise!

LOVED Red Agave Our family had a terrific stay at the Red Agave. We stayed in the Montezuma unit, and were literally 20 yards from the Slim Shady trailhead. Easy bike rental just across the street. Great setup of units; kids loved having their own loft, and the fully equipped kitchen was great. Only thing we regretted was not staying here longer!
