Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

This is by far, the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in and I've done The Ritz Carlton, The W, etc. The details, the views, the service. From before I even arrived they were always so helpful over the phone. To get a live person is a privilege these days. I don't normally write reviews but when the experience and the service is AMAZING I have to say something. I was so nervous that something would go wrong at check out, or the rooms wouldn't be what they advertised (bc I did see that when I read the reviews of other hotels). But everything was surprisingly EVEN BETTER. I told them we were there for my daughters Sweet 16 and they upgraded our room to a balcony view of TImes Square and left balloons and a gift for her in our room when we got back from our night out!! The decor & views from the restaurant within the hotel were movie worthy. We had panoramic views of Times Square. And although I no longer live or work in the city, the views, the sound, the energy is still something I enjoy having (from time to time lol). They held our luggage for us after we checked out so we could continue to go to our pre-planned activities before we officially leave the city. When it was time to catch our train, we double backed, got our bags and kept it pushing. It wa theee smoothest hotel ever. IF we needed anything they were RIGHT ON IT, and ALWAYS with a smile!!! I think Imma come back just for me. No kids. Just some me time and self care!!

Great base location We were originally scheduled to arrive in town around 3 pm, but a flight schedule change moved us to a midnight departure and 5:30 am arrival. We were able to check in at 7:30 am even though the advertised time was 4 pm. So very grateful for that! The first room we were given smelled like someone had smoked in it, so we asked to change rooms. The next room was clean and comfortable. The high floor view was just okay, but it was fairly quiet. Bathroom had plenty of counter space but no towel bar except for at one end of the bathtub, and one hook on the wall at the other end by the toilet. Tub was big and deep. It worked fine for us but I could see getting in and out being an issue for some seniors or folks with short legs. (I fit both those descriptions ;-) Others have noted the hotel has rooms with walk in showers so that would be an option to ask about. My daughter and I both felt the beds were comfortable and we slept well. We didn’t go to the bar or restaurant so can’t speak to that. The R Market is pricy and doesn’t accept cash. Daughter got coffee and recommended getting it elsewhere next time. The central location was wonderful. We walked to several restaurants, shops, attractions, and to a Broadway show. For excursions farther away, there are a number of subway stations close by. Overall, I was happy with our stay and would come back again.

Amazing stay! We can’t thank the entire staff for their amazing hospitality! My wife and I had the best experience and even got the chance to meet the manager Troy who was extremely helpful and very nice. We will definitely be returning again next year with our 4 daughters.

Location only, the rest was a flop. Rude too!! The only thing this hotel has going for them is their location. The front desk people are very rude, Destiny, the front desk manager is leading the charge. Destiny herself is quite possibly the rudest employee that the hotel has. I left my contact information for Gina the hotel manager to contact me and Destiny said she would give it to her. And I’ve never once heard from Gina. The rooms are dark and old and the plumbing is falling apart. The shower faucet in our room was almost falling off the wall. The drains were completely clogged in both the sink and shower, and hardly any of the Outlets in our room worked to be able to charge our phones for the next day. The only person who actually was nice at the hotel and seemed to care about the customers was Matthew from the concierge‘s desk. I would advise against staying here, as there are much better places even on that street to stay.
