Run down property We thought everything about this Residence Inn was subpar and were left with the impression that the owners were skimping on maintenance and service. From the broken Residence Inn sign, to the unknowledgeable desk clerk, to the run down rooms (we saw 2 because they had to switch us), to the breakfast and everything in between. We'd never stay here again.

Find somewhere else to stay. First of all the pictures are old. It is much more run down and outdated. There is no hot tub it’s been filled in with cement who knows when but they never updated their pictures. We stayed here years ago and it wasn’t this bad. Breakfast was horrible. Limited selection, eggs are watery, no cream cheese for the bagels and limited bread selection both mornings we were there despite getting there before 8am. We had the queen suite so there’s at least a door for the bedroom but carpet was torn up, lights look like from the 90’s, limited places next to bed to charge phones/devices, limited tv channels, super slow connection speed and only 1 bar of cell service for AT&T pretty much anywhere in the whole town we were. Don’t remember it being that bad a couple of years back. We always stay at Marriotts but this was the most Motel 6 level Marriott we’ve ever stayed in. Will choose somewhere else next time. Oh and the mattresses are very uncomfortable. Clearly haven’t updated in years both the queen bed and the sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa had rust stains on the underside of the mattress!

Not a tired Marriott but, exhausted This Marriott wasn’t tired, it was exhausted. We were there for only one night and although it served its purpose to get us closer to getting home, the wear & tear on this hotel showed. The room didn’t smell clean upon entering and smelled like garbage was left too long. Very odd that in our room a couple of the nightstands and tv stand were dated dressers with scratches all over them like someone brought them in from your grandmother’s attic. The door to the room closed fine but, you could see through the side of the door which made us feel uncomfortable. The couch & a chair had stains all over them. Ick! The light in the bathroom on the ceiling had too big of a hole cut in the ceiling where the plate of the light was too small for the hole & it just looked less than a Marriott standard & was unprofessional to leave it this way. I wonder if Marriott corporate themselves would actually pay for these less than issues? They need to start listening to the reviews that voice not Marriott standard and then to do something about the less than issues.

Good Option on US 64 near I-95 at Rocky Mount One of our regular overnight stops on our annual winter driving trip to Florida. Your basic Residence Inn: well-appointed room (we had a studio this time, for under $100, not a suite, as usual), pretty good breakfast, helpful staff. One big change since we've been staying here are the multiple dinner options. When we first stayed here, years ago, the only choice of an Outback Steakhouse. Now there are four other restaurants less than 5 minutes away. One peculiar, and new, feature is that you can exit the hotel only via the front entrance, so you can't use a parking space convenient to your room

Great experience! This experience did not disappoint, starting with the most friendly staff ever. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed their attentiveness. The location was perfect… also, restaurants and other stores very nearby. Easy navigation. Would definitely stay here again!
