Rosarito, Mexico: Beach Town Close to San Diego

Located just 30 miles south of San Diego across the Mexican border, Rosarito is a tourist town at heart. In the 1920s, Americans trying to have a good time despite Prohibition would head south of the border and to the newly built Rosarito Beach Hotel—a favorite spot for Hollywood celebs.

Rosarito has remained a popular resort area; you’ll find shopping centers and high-rise resorts up and down the coast. You can go golfing at several championship courses, surf the Baja waves, and go wine-tasting in the Guadalupe Valley, where more than 18 wineries offer daily tours and tastings. The town is also an easy drive from Tijuana, the bustling border city and cultural heart of Baja California.

Stay Very clean resort! Everyone super friendly. Wish they had the bar from the big tower open. No drinks were allowed and the closest bar was the lobby bar. It was unconvinient to walk wet through the hotel just for a drink.

Nope! Just, no. There are far better places in Mexico than this, the water is a constant red flag so no swimming, no towels for the pool as well as only two towels in our room! No washcloths or hand towels and one small water bottle for two people. No coffee or tea service in the room either. Kinda rundown and dingy so disappointing for us. It's a no for me☹️ The Valle de Guadalupe is amazing for wine if you enjoy reds___

Decent, but lacking basics We were unable to get dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, napkins, and wash clothes in our 1 bdr condo unit during our 1 wk stay. The staff were all very nice and friendly, but not being able to get basic kitchen/bath supplies is not acceptable.
