Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile and buzzes with carnival games and amusement-park rides. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk’s hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 100 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Middle of the Road. I definitely don’t feel like I got the value for what I paid. The room was okay, and the bed was definitely not very comfortable. At the end of the day, we made the best of it, but Royal Palms Resort will not be our go to vacation destination.

Not worth money Not worth money . Too expensive . Poor service .no COVID protocol . Looks like a super spreader event . No room service . Full of hidden fees . Way overpriced than the services . I will avoid going forward .

AVOID! AVOID AVOID! The photos provided are deceiving and of the sister hotel (Embassy Suites). The amenities such as the pools and updated Embassy suite is the only reason myself and others are fooled into booking a room. Royale Palms is privately owned and operated under the Hilton umbrella. Rooms have never been updated since built (14 years ago) and in horrible disrepair. Stains on the walls, smell of urine/mold in the hallways, the toilet doesnt flush and makes odd noise. the shower drain is clogged with hair collected from prior guests, the furnace/AC is louder than an air boat, the bedding is torn, stained and appeared to be from the 70's. The carpets in the room had stain spots and peeled with folds causing a tripping hazard. The room doors did not have proper seal and you can hear guests in the hallway. The mattress is extremely old that the springs can be felt on my back while sleeping. The so-called "ocean view" is a small open space between hotel buildings. A refund was provided at 3 am the next morning and the employee informed that this is a reoccurring issue for Royale Palms. There is absolutely nothing positive to speak of about Royale Palms. Consider this a warning to avoid this hotel and do not believe the trip advisor follow-up response from management.
