NoMad, Manhattan: Vibrant Neighborhood near Empire State Building

NoMad is named for its location—north of Madison Square Park—which is about as central Manhattan as you can get. It’s near the bustle of Midtown and Fifth Avenue, yet within walking distance of Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Times Square, and Rockfeller Center. The neighborhood is sprinkled with subway stations that you can use to get all over Manhattan and beyond.

For a neat perspective, head west to the High Line, a walking path built on a former railroad above the streets of Manhattan’s West Side. In addition to some spectacular urban scenery, the High Line features benches, food stands, and even wine bars, making it a great place to spend a warm evening. Madison Square Park is another worthy spot for unwinding. The park offers free WiFi and even has its own Shake Shack. Head to the park’s south end to snap a picture of the Flatiron Building, a wedge-shaped skyscraper that’s a symbol of New York City.

The Fashionable Gem We had a wonderful visit to New York City and The Royalton Park Avenue was the cherry on top! The hotel is just a short distance from the magnificent Time Square and many other attractions (ex. Empire State Building, Flatiron building, Union Square). The Royalton is situated on the corner of 29th and Park Avenue (great location), giving us many options. We literally would walk outside the hotel and just start walking because there were so many things to explore. The Royalton is fashionable, metropolitan and hip. It is tastefully refurbished and has a touch of old-world charm and upbeat modernism. I was happy that the front desk staffer asked it we wanted to upgrade to get a balcony because it was such a nice view. We received an 11th floor room (clean room) with a partial view of the Empire State Building. We could see the top of it as it was changing colors to reflect Valentine's Day. We loved the modern bathroom that had a separate tub and shower. We also loved the rooftop pool. We didn't get in the pool but the view was really, really nice. It was very cold, as it was February. We could see steam coming from the pool, which created such a picturesque scene. Hotel guests were in the pool enjoying themselves and the awesome view. The rooftop bar/lounge (next to the pool, but inside) is where hipsters and sophisticates gather for hot music, nice cocktails and a laid-back, retro lounge atmosphere. The Bartenders and hosts were nice, accommodating and professional. I came back to the bar for a second night but couldn't remember the name of the cocktail I had the night before because the bartender (I believe he was from California) designed a special cocktail for me. He remembered it and remade it for me! One of the best parts of the Royalton Park Avenue was a hotel staffer named "Juan" . He was the nicest, most personable hotel staffer we have met in the United States. And we travel a lot (domestically and internationally). There is only one other hotel staffer who had his great disposition and he was in London at another 5 start hotel. Juan, you made our trip to NYC memorable! You're phenomenal! Keep doing what you do. Your top-notch personality and disposition makes all the difference! We recommend staying that the Royalton Park Avenue. We will return. Thank you to all that accommodated us during our visit.

Amazing! What a beautiful hotel. It showed it's age due to lack of electrical outlets but makes up for that small detail in great staff, clean room, amazing amenities and comfort. Cherry was amazing and so kind at check in. Very knowledgeable and personable. Her manager on duty (sorry forgot her name) also welcomed me. The text greeting from Taylor was a nice touch to incorporate technology and make me feel like I was looked after. Overall a great experience for the short time I was there.

Fabulous We arrived on 5th March & leave tomorrow. We came for my 50th Birthday. The staff are so courteous & helpful. The rooms (King) are huge and comfortable. The beds & pillows are fab. The reception area is being upgraded but this in no way affects the area. We would all definitely stay here again & would highly recommend staying here when you visit New York. If I’m being really picky I would say a kettle in the room would be handy. Thank you Royalton for making our stay a great one. See you again!
