Reno, Nevada: Casino City with Arts and Outdoor Adventure

Reno lives up to its billing as “The Biggest Little City in the World" thanks to its flashy casinos, cultural centers, and restaurants worthy of a much larger metropolis, all packed together on Virginia Street. If you need a break from courting Lady Luck at the big gaming palace Circus Circus, head to the Truckee River Arts District to explore the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum. Because of its location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and just east of Tahoe National Forest, the city also puts visitors within reach of rushing rivers and high mountain ranges for hiking, rafting, and gold-rush reenacting.

It was a great stay nice room very clean . But I’m still trying to figure out when I’m getting my deposit back . I had asked for a copy and I was told they don’t give us a copy of our stay nor the deposit.

Okay stay. Too much construction and noise. They should reduce the rates until the place is ready. Only a buffet to dine, and pretty expensive as buffets go. Since they have you travelling through construction areas to get from one side of the hotel to the other, better signs would help A LOT.

Sleepless in Reno Please don't stay here if you value your money and sleep. It's a full on construction zone and as others have said and drilling (inside the hotel) starts promptly at 6:30 am. If you call the front desk, they just say there's nothing they can do about the noise. So I suggest you go to bed early if you want to get those 6-8 hours. And the pricing....Staying here for a basketball tournament with special AAU pricing. I booked months ago and was quoted the correct rate at that time by Reservations. When I arrive, the cost has increased $200. It took 2 front desk visits and an irritated 645am call for them to correct my charges. I'm hoping it will reflect correctly at check-out, but my hopes aren't high. The rooms are renovated nicely and that earns them the 1 star. It even has new car smell.

Even if this was the only hotel with availability, I wouldn’t stay there again! If you’re traveling to Reno don’t it is sad apocalyptic waste, land of desperation and despair. In the main tourist area, there are so many homeless people that you need to step over them to get to the casinos of which there are very few scattered between the boarded up decrepit, and the decaying buildings. Now, as far as the rooms that for the J resort the good news is they all come with the refrigerator and microwave. However, that’s where the good news ends. To call this replace a Resort is a joke because there’s absolutely nothing to do there. The location is in the middle of nowhere and it looks very sketchy even during the daytime, so I would not recommend leaving the property after dark. The food and beverage options are absolutely pathetic and the quality of food is worse than the worst truck stop. The only have one restaurant and a fake Starbucks. I went to the restaurant for breakfast and it took 2 1/2 hours to be served and the food was so bad that I couldn’t even eat it. The casino itself is so small, pathetic and empty that it’s actually laughable. For less money, you can stay at the Atlantis, which is actually a real resort with countless restaurants, a huge casino, spa and a direct covered access walkway to the convention center.
