Nassau, Bahamas: Rich Cultural History and Underwater Adventures

Nassau is a top Caribbean destination thanks to its mix of culture and tropical bliss. You can still see the Bahamian capital’s storied history in its colonial architecture. The Bahamas’ 1815 Parliament building is impossible to miss—it’s painted pale pink, reflecting the color of the flamingo on the country’s coat of arms. Another popular attraction is the 18th-century Queen’s Staircase, a 100-foot carved limestone staircase that leads up to the island’s highest point and the remains of a centuries-old fort.

Take a guided snorkeling or diving tour if you want to explore the surrounding reefs and shipwrecks beneath the surface of the Atlantic. Stuart Cove is one of the most popular watersports operations in the area with activities such as the Shark Adventure program, which safely brings divers up close with Caribbean sharks. You can also swim with wild pigs at Pig Beach, a short boat ride from Nassau. Back in town on Bay Street, duty-free shops hawk everything from jewelry to rum cakes; this is also where you’ll find most of the nightlife.

not happy. The stay was ok. Would not come again or recommend. The water pressure in the shower was awful and the water had a stench like the lagoon. The lagoon smelt too. The toiletries were awful, awful quality and had to ask several times to be replenished. No shower gel only soap. Your website should state bring own toiletries. The rooms were cleaned daily, sheets not changed for a week,. Makes me think, did the sheets even get changed for new ones when we came into the room or did they just spray with Lysol. Sheets sprayed with lysol which made my husband sick. Towels dont smell clean. The cups and glasses cleaned with a dirty cloth no washing up soap used, (i saw that myself whilst in the room). Very outdated furniture and decor. No mosquito screens in the doors, air conditioning units are filthy and look like they have not been cleaned for years. Overall, not happy. Would not come again. I was in one of the rooms in 700 block. We booked two rooms and both of us feel the same.

Wonderful resort near Nassau Excellent resort near Nassau. The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was spacious with a veranda towards the laguna (with hammocks). The pool is also spacious, clean, and very pleasant. You can order drinks from the pool bar. We had breakfast on the veranda, very nice. However, the A/C in the room was very helpful (quiet and strong) as the weather was hot and humid. The ocean is a short walk below the road to Nassau. The resort itself is well guarded and not accessible from the outside which gave us a safe feeling (however, the Bahamas appear to be safe in general). Free coffee etc. in the room, microwave, fridge. Free international calls to the US from the front desk. Good parking locations directly in front of the appartment building. We had a rental car, but the resort is not far away from the airport (maybe 8 km driving). It is about 10 km from Nassau downtown where we went by rental car. It is probably easy to make both ways with a taxi. We really enjoyed our visit. It was just too short!
