Pismo Beach, California: Surf Town Close to Wine Country

Pismo Beach is a small city with the recipe for California-coast appeal: sun, sand, surf, and a backdrop of hills overlooking a valley of vineyards. Weather is key to the beach culture here; Pismo Beach enjoys 315 days of sunshine each year and temperatures ranging from 66 to 84 degrees. Year-round, surfers descend on the 23-mile coast along with vacationers looking to get tans. Visitors explore isolated dunes on the southern end of town and fish off the central pier.

The warm weather and misty mornings of this coastal stretch also provide great conditions for winemaking in the nearby Edna Valley. With one of California’s longest growing seasons, the Edna Valley AVA has some of the region’s best wineries, producing large quantities of chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah.

We received wonderful service from Sylvia as we checked in. She was very thorough in giving us all the information we needed. The hotel is beautiful and we had a great first stay, one of many to come. The ocean view room upgrade we got was just what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

No Seating?! Not as advertised. No place to sit. No sofa. No chair. Small dining chairs. Website shows the one room that apparently has a sitting area. Even the most basic room has a sofa, chair, or desk. Space is stark and uninviting. 3 star accommodation? I don’t think so. Be aware before booking. Ruined stay.

Ask for Adrian, he was so helpful! OMG Adrian is THEE BEST! He gave us the best anniversary gift ever by giving us such a wonderful room with an ocean view. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable one. The facility and grounds are just to die for! I can't wait to spend the next 5 days here. We stayed in room 311 and would def recommend it. The small amenities in the toiletries and coffee station were a nice surprise as well. Thank you again Adrian for the hospitality, I will def recommend you.

Bring the kids! I have stayed in quite a few of the Pismo Beach cliff and beach -side hotels, and this one, although not my favorite as a solo traveler looking for a quiet weekend, would be perfect for families. The pool was a noisy stew of children enjoying themselves immensely. There is one "adults only" hot tub, and lots of privacy in the rooms, but otherwise this is a kiddie party! Even the so-so restaurant that shares a parking lot with Sea Crest has a burgers/fries vibe that the youngsters seemed to enjoy. Not for me!
