Amelia Island, Florida: Popular Seaside Island with 13 Miles of Pristine Beach

Amelia Island—a barrier island about 35 miles northeast of Jacksonville—has consistently been ranked among the best islands in the United States by Condé Nast Traveler. At just 2 miles wide and 13 miles long, the secluded island offers a string of pristine beaches. Main Beach has sand volleyball courts, and Peters Point is well suited for family picnics. Then there’s Seaside Park, where you can park your car on the beach.

Situated on the northeast corner of the island, Fernandina Beach is a Victorian seaport village filled with eclectic shops and restaurants. Stroll through the 50-block historic district to glimpse Victorian, Queen Anne, and Italianate homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby, in Fort Clinch State Park, you can tour a preserved 19th-century fort, hike or bike on the 6-mile trail that loops through the park, or swim on the unspoiled beaches.

To be honest we started off with them not finding our reservation so make sure you call after you book. They immediately redeemed themselves and gave us an upgrade. This place was an amazing location. The views were beautiful. The were 2 restaurants within walking distance and the staff there was absolutely committed to customer service. The downtown area is about 3 miles from the hotel. The state park is only about a mile away. 10 out of 10 would recommend this place!

Great location but customer service & welcome lacking. We were greeted by a rude attendant. Got to our room & dirty linens were piled by the bed. The GM happened to be in his office & did give us an upgraded room. Location is great. Steps from the beach & walking distance to 2 great restaurants. One on the beach & one right across. The Inn was decorated great & was bright & welcoming with beach decor. Breakfast was included. Pool was quite small. We'd definitely give them a second try. The island is beautiful. The beaches are amazing! Downtown was quaint & ended on the intercostal.

worst experience in FB I wish I had read all these reviews before booking, because it was exactly what I had experienced. I have a disability and I travelled alone with a little service dog, therefore I have been assigned a ground floor room, where the dogs are allowed. Room was dark, definitely NOT clean and the AC extremely noisy. I have not been advised that daily cleaning was on demand only, therefore I only had the maid in the late afternoon on the second day. Breakfast is ridiculous: to say "basic" is an euphemism and they don't even replace when they run out of stuff, like coffee creamer. Mainly, the people at the front desk couldn't care less about you. They barely say Hi, they seem bothered if you ask anything. It was pretty clear to me that customer service there was ZERO. Whoever runs this place is fine with that, so any bad review won't affect the general status. Even the answers to all these bad reviews are they same, and sure enough they don't do anything to improve, because they DO NOT CARE about you. For whoever might be intersted, a last note as a word to the wise... the TV has only CNN channel for news... no Fox. Just saying it !!!

Good Location, Could be Cleaner Overall, the stay was fine. The location was great and the view was nice. But when you’re paying almost $500 for two nights, you’d expect it to be cleaner. We found two roaches in our room, at least they were dead already, and an item that was left behind by previous guests that looked like some sort of folding comb. When I brought up concerns to the front desk all they could do was “leave a note for the manager”.
