Midtown East Manhattan: Iconic Sights and Shops Along Fifth Avenue

Midtown East refers to a 17-block stretch of central Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and the East River. The area is known for some of New York’s most famous landmarks, including Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and Grand Central Terminal (one of the world’s most-visited tourist attractions). Though in recent years Grand Central has filled with upscale restaurants and shops, it still serves as a major transportation hub with subway lines, Metro trains, and ziplines heading all over the city.

A stroll down Fifth Avenue is a world-renowned shopping experience: the street is filled with luxury boutiques and flagship department stores, including the original Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. For a little tranquility in the middle of the city, follow Fifth up to the southeast corner of Central Park. Just a few feet off the street is the Pond, which is spanned by a stone bridge. A little farther north, you’ll find the heart of Central Park Zoo.

Perfectly placed with Everything you need We stayed here mid December and were looking forward mainly to the location, having previously stayed on the upper west it was good to have some of the main locations nearby. You're within a few minutes walk of Grand Central station so that should give you an idea of roughly where you are, nowhere is too difficult to get to either on foot or from the station itself. The accomodation we knew prior to going would probably fall under the budget category however if you're going into Manhattan to spend time sightseeing then the amount of time spent in the room should be minimal. So that being said we were just happy to have a hotel that was clean and gave us a comfortable base for our exploring and Seton certainly did. The room was well kept and cleaned daily, we opted for a room with a private bathroom (the only thing we would always look to have) and whilst being on the small side it was perfectly adequate. The staff on reception were always very welcoming with the exception of one young lady but we encountered at least another 4/5 people who couldn't help us enough. Would have absolutely no trouble with going back to the Seton, in fact i imagine we will if we ever visit the city again - the only thing i would say is providing you aren't going expecting luxury you'll be fine. It does exactly what it needs to and for the price you pay, and the location you are in you really can't fault it.

OMG... Fabulous! Having visited the city several times, with all the things you experience, due to a very sad standard of somewhat expensive accommodation, this hotel is sooooo different. Welcoming staff, endless topservice, very personal treatment and contact. Felt as much as home as possible in the nicely but not overdone decorated room, where by the way.... Everything worked 100%. Our new favorite and only hotel for us. Love it!

Christmas break Stayed here for 7 days in December. Very good hotel and rooms are much larger than most hotels previously stayed in. Fantastic location making it easy to get to majority of places easily. There are safety deposit boxes you can use in the main reception which was a bonus. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is the room heating was so hot at night we needed the air con on at all times, this was incredibly noisy. We also had a shared bathroom next to our room (we paid extra for our own bathroom), however the shared bathroom could be noisy at times overnight. All in all a very good hotel, thank you.

Clean, great location, friendly staff Nervous about the communal bathrooms—this hotel was beautifully appointed, super friendly, old-school boutique charm! Highest ceilings Ive ever had in NYC. Soft bed, clean room, quiet, warm, will totally stay again if I need a room in midtown! 5 min walk to Grand Central.
