Hotel at a Glance: Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown Hotel

This 4-star hotel sits in an area of downtown Fort Worth that used to be known as Hell’s Half Acre, a red-light district filled with saloons and dancehalls. The neighborhood isn’t quite as rowdy today, though. It’s now home to restaurants, boutiques, and performance centers—including the home base of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra—many within walking distance of the hotel. And the city’s museum district is just 3 miles away.

  • Onsite restaurant, the Chef’s Table, serves American cuisine and refreshing drinks as well as features HDTVs for game day viewing.
  • Spacious digs: Recently renovated guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs, in-room WiFi, and some units have views of the city.
  • Never miss a workout: Hotel has a fitness center equipped with cardio machines as well as free weights, rollers, and exercise balls.

Fort Worth: Western Hub with Bustling Downtown

Once a market for buying and selling cattle, sheep, and hogs, the Fort Worth Stockyards is today a historical district where the smell of smoked meats from barbecue joints and country music from rowdy honky-tonks fill the air. It’s the best place in the city to go for an authentic Texas experience. You can still watch drovers on horseback parade herds of cattle down the main drag. Live musicians accompany line dancing at the site of a famous 19th-century gunfight, and at a nearby rodeo center, modern-day cowboys demonstrate bull riding and barrel racing during two-hour exhibitions.

In the cultural district—about 4 miles south—world-class museums stand along tree-lined brick boulevards. Acclaimed as one of the most striking architectural designs of the modern era, the Kimbell Art Museum houses ancient artifacts, a painting thought to be Michelangelo’s first, and early Ninja Turtles sketches. At the free-to-the-public Amon Carter Museum of American Art, you can survey a collection of American works, including several paintings from the Hudson River School.

Check-in glitch (?) I booked the hotel through Hotwire, as I've done dozens of times before. This is the first time that they "couldn't find" my reservation, even after I showed the lady at the counter the hotel confirmation number. I had to call Hotwire customer service and their agent had to call the hotel until eventually they found my reservation. Still another check-in lady spent 10 minutes typing before it was processed. Otherwise, the hotel seems fine.

Great Hotel. Great Location. Great service! We stayed here for six nights and loved it! It was 10 min from TCU and only 20 min to Globe Life field. Very quick access to the freeway. The room was very nice and everyone that worked there was so friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Flawless Renovation The recent renovations have made this hotel feel brand new! The staff at checkin set things off on the right foot with a quick and flawless checkin. The lobby is beautiful and airy. I was upgraded to a large bedroom suite that was simply amazing. The decorations and furnishings in the room were impeccable. The living room had a large sectional and nice wet bar area and the bedroom was also large with an extremely comfortable bed. There were two pullout sofas, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The bathroom was a decent size and impeccably clean. The rooms are also virtually soundproof which is a huge positive. All in all this Sheraton knocked it out of the park with their recent renovations. The updates were modern yet classic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ft. Worth.
