Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Uncomfortable bed/bedding Staff was friendly. The room was clean but the pillows were tiny, half the size of a normal pillow and the bed was hard. Not the most comfortable sleep.

Noise and bad experience Horrible experience. Noise level was horrible. I am not referring to the young children, I am referring to the adults/big teens. From 3 am to 5:30 am while people are sleeping, you can hear them running in the hallway to their rooms and shouting at each others with extremely loud music inside their rooms...You pay what you get. We stayed on the 6th floor. Never stay at this hotel again. We have stayed almost all the hotels and resorts in Atlantic city and this was the worse one. Pay a little more and stay at somewhere else. Front desk people were good. Rooms are ok, I didnt like the bed base made from metal when you hit the base, it makes a loud noise bcus it's metal and not wood as most of the hotel has.

Place is Rundown, Outdated and Thilthy This place is completely rundown, outdated and thilthy. Every inch of this place from the hallways to the elevators and to the rooms. Although family oriented, it is filled with screaming unsupervised children running everywhere. The arcade is full of games and machines that are out of service. Only nice thing to say about the place is any staff I encountered were very friendly, but they must be completely embarrassed to work there. They charge $25 to park overnight after spending a fortune on the room. Also, even after paying for your room, they charge your credit card a $150 hold deposit for room damage that you can get back a few days after checkout. Ridiculous!!!
