Baltimore, Maryland: World-Class Museums and Historic Waterfront Neighborhoods

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor—a busy port that was redeveloped as a tourism district in the mid-20th century—has become one of the city’s best-known and most beloved landmarks. Water taxis ferry visitors from one historic, cultural, or family-friendly attraction to another. Sites along the routes include the star-shaped Fort McHenry (where US forces repelled the British during the War of 1812, inspiring Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner”) and restaurants where you can sample the city’s famous crab cakes.

You’ll find several unique museums here, too, from the National Aquarium—which houses more than 16,000 sea creatures in realistic habitats—to the wonderfully oddball American Visionary Art Museum, one of the country’s leading institutions for outsider art. For a stunning view of the skyline, the Inner Harbor, and Chesapeake Bay, head up to the 27th floor of the Baltimore World Trade Center, where you can see the city from 360 degrees at the observation deck.

The good reviews are fake - check the names. This place should be avoided at all costs. I lasted all of 10 minutes at this hotel as I was in Baltimore for a work trip. I expressed to the front desk that I don’t quite feel safe - something they perpetuated as during the middle of the day in daylight they individually buzzed people in. What?! The front desk worker minimized my concerns and then began to speak in another language to the manager. They also took too long looking at my credit card which made me uncomfortable, so now I will have to keep an eye out for charges that aren’t mine. I grew up in NYC and have lived in various cities. I am not new to urban areas. This place is extremely sketchy. The neighborhood is fine. On to the room, the door looked like someone had tried to kick it in and there was clearly a flight based on some slashes right at the front of the room on the wall. I almost laughed because imagine telling someone you feel unsafe and being put in a room that validates those fears. Are you out of your mind? The bed had stains that were either ash or mold and the bathroom shower had mold on the ceiling. I didn’t even bother to do a bed bug check but I wouldn’t be surprised. If the outer layers are that visibly dirty, what’s underneath will always be worst. I went down to leave, not planning to give any grief, just check out and go and you won’t believe the HOOPS they tried to make me jump through. “Oh it’s safe you will feel safe” “I can put you in another room” I finally had to ask the manager if I was his sister and I claimed I was feeling this unsafe would you appreciate someone arguing with her and he shut up. I can’t believe how condescending he was being and if he really thought he could just talk me into staying and feeling uncomfortable. Please also read the reviews carefully and pay attention to style and names. It seems very clear they have used a bot to generate fake positive reviews. This place should get 0 stars.

Absolutely DISGUSTING I gave one star because it would not let me give zero. We stayed here one night pre-cruise. We had 3 rooms booked (two were suites). First impression in the lobby was “okay”, only because the front desk workers were friendly. That was the end of anything good. We then found out that the elevator was broken. One of our rooms was on the 3rd floor, the other two were on the 4th floor. It was a lot of fun to drag all our heavy luggage up the stairs to our floor, having to lift it up over one of the stairs that had what appeared to be urine on it. We finally make it to our rooms, and the suite on the 4th floor reeked of cigarette smoke. The carpeting and couch were covered in stains. One of the window panes was broken. The air conditioner was broken in the other room that was on the 4th floor. The room was beyond stifling hot. Luckily, our friends got a different room. The 3rd room (one of the suites) on the 3rd floor was the worst. There were FECES (from a prior guest?) in the toilet. Peeling paint on the ceiling, and if you got past the bathroom part, the rest of the room was equally disgusting like the rest. We flushed the toilet hoping that would take care of it. Nope. We then called down to the front desk to ask if they could please come and get rid of the feces. We were told that there was no maintenance available but that he would bring us a plunger. Ummm, absolutely NOT. YOU come up and plunge the toilet. He said he was the only one there and could not. After giving him a piece of our mind, he did reluctantly eventually come up and plunge the toilet. (After we called the Choice 1-800 number to complain). Luckily we had Lysol wipes with us to properly clean the toilet. Completely unacceptable. We were hoping that the breakfast would be okay. However, that was a huge disappointment as well. There was no silverware (plastic forks), no eggs, and only very cold breakfast sausage, and waffles that you could make yourself. The sausage felt like it just came out of the fridge. Ice cold. People were making waffles, but they had to eat them with their hands. We never bothered complaining to the front desk because we just wanted to get out of this disgusting hotel. Thankfully, there was an IHOP right down the road. There are only two good things about this hotel. Location, and the beds are comfy. Never again would I stay here, and most certainly would never recommend it.

Got no sleep in this hotel Very basic hotel and room. Needs updating and new bathroom. Room smelled musty. The worst part was the fire alarms started going off and on starting at 3:30 am. Our request for a refund was denied. Also saw a bug on my nightstand I couldn’t identify. Do not recommend.
