Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

Would Not Stay Here Again The room itself was fairly clean. The rest of the hotel was dirty. The vinyl couches in the lobby and near elevators were filthy. The mats in the elevator needed vacuuming. The trash cans around the hotel were overflowing with trash. The checkin took forever and the guy was not the friendliest. The breakfast looked amazing in the pictures, but it was not good and they were not refilling items as they ran out. They have pictures in the elevator of breakfast sandwiches, but come to find out you have to pay for those. The coffee creamer was kept in the food line, not by the coffee. I had to get in line again just to get creamer as the coffee was in another area where all they had was powdered creamer. There was very little seating in the breakfast area so we had to carry our food to our room. We had to wait forever for the elevator and so our food was cold by the time we got up there. There are no microwaves in the rooms. There was no one at the desk when I tried to check out. I tried to wait a few minutes and no one came. So I placed my key on the desk and left. This was the one of three hotels we stayed at during our trip and by far the worst.
