Colorado Springs, Colorado: Cultured College Town Where the Mountains Meet the Plains

Colorado Springs is the second-biggest city in Colorado, but it still has a frontier feel; there are vast plains and towering mountains just east of the city. At more than 14,000 feet, Pikes Peak dominates the landscape. The mountain—once thought to be insurmountable—inspired part of the lyrics to “America the Beautiful.” Travelers can hike the mountainside or take in the surroundings by car along the 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway. The summit of Pikes Peak is easy to reach via the Cog Railway, a three-hour train ride that makes a steep climb past boulders, streams, and trees that are roughly 2,000 years old.

Though a lot of activity here skews toward the outdoors, Colorado Springs has plenty else going for it, particularly in the artistic realm. Downtown is the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, home to masterpieces by contemporary American painters that include John Singer Sargent and Georgia O'Keeffe. There's also an art walk through local galleries on the first Friday of each month from April through December.

Lacking Management Customer Service While the property is okay and several of the staff are fantastic; management (Ronnie Sanchez, GM) here is non existent. A basketball team and a football team were both guests on Friday and there was not one manager on duty at the front desk to address the excessive noise issues both inside and outside the hotel. Ronnie was aware of my issue on Saturday and chose not to address it with me on Saturday or Sunday. On Monday, I was told that Ronnie was to be in at 8:00am and after waiting for 15 minutes with Ronnie not showing up, I had to leave. This was after the front desk agent called him 3 different times saying a customer needed to talk to him. No calls back. There are too many other Marriott properties in Colorado Springs that are just as nice or nicer, I would NOT recommend this property if you want management that cares about you or your stay.

I Won’t Return Front desk has no personality at all. Had to ask for room cleaning and trash was overflowing. Thin walls and noise kept me up every night. Breakfast bar was mobbed and cleaned out without them replenishing. Side door didn’t work with my key card.

CHARGE FOR PARKING!!!!! While my stay was wonderful, be aware!!! They charge 10$ a day for parking!! Ridiculous! A lot of people would never see that unless you go into the AP under parking and transit. I could understand if it was a downtown hotel Maybe and parking was limited, but the property has a huge lot. Absolutely greedy to charge for parking.
