New Orleans, LA: The Timeless Soul of the Crescent City

A city steeped in history, culture, and an unyielding spirit, New Orleans stands as a living testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the American South. Founded in 1718 by the French and later shaped by Spanish, African, and Creole influences, the city exudes an old-world charm that weaves through its cobblestone streets and wrought-iron balconies. The historic French Quarter, with its iconic St. Louis Cathedral and lively Bourbon Street, offers a sensory feast of jazz melodies, Cajun flavors, and festive energy. Beyond its famed revelry, New Orleans preserves its past in elegant mansions, storied cemeteries, and the hauntingly beautiful Garden District, each narrating a tale of its own.

The lifeblood of the city, the mighty Mississippi River, has shaped its commerce, culture, and identity for centuries. Paddlewheel boats still grace its waters, evoking an era of grandeur, while the bustling Warehouse Arts District celebrates modern creativity with world-class galleries and museums. The city’s deep-rooted musical legacy echoes in the jazz halls of Frenchmen Street, where improvisation and passion fuel an art form born in its very heart. Whether savoring a beignet at Café du Monde, exploring the mysteries of voodoo lore, or immersing in the electric energy of Mardi Gras, New Orleans remains an enduring symbol of tradition, celebration, and an unbreakable connection to its storied past.

Good business hotel! This small hotel was a good fit for my business trip to New Orleans. It was not too far from the airport and it was walking distance to the convention center, where I needed to be. The area around the hotel is quiet and there are some good options for breakfast, lunch and dinner nearby.

Don’t let them hold your bags! We let them hold our bags while we explored New Orleans and when we came back to give them our ticket, we were just sent up to a second story room that was unlocked, unattended, and there was another family just rifling through suitcases. My Louis Vuitton makeup bag went missing during this time! I was sent to a left my stuff website and they said they couldn’t find it. When I stopped back to discuss it with the manager, they said they’d never even gotten the report fromI left my stuff and they had no idea how thay website worked. The manager, Jasmine was so rude and not helpful. They finally found my bag and then I had to pay $55 to ship it. If the lost stuff website had been working properly, I could have picked it up for Free in person that they absolutely refused to be reasonable and reimburse me for shipping. No customer service whatsoever I’ve never seen a bag storage attended so recklessly either. Do not stay here!

Just ok for us We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night before our cruise departed. We paid a little over $400 for the two nights. It is in a convenient location . It’s about a 15 minute walk to canal street from the hotel. The hotel is very close to the cruise parking garage. One of the things we were not aware of is that we had to pay for parking. I believe the cost was $42 dollars per day. The hotel needed some renovations. The carpet was coming up in places. The towels were nice and cozy . We called the service desk to bring more to the room and they brought them immediately. One other thing to be aware of! We ordered room service not knowing that the hotel uses a third party. We paid almost 100 bucks for two burgers, some bbq chicken bread and three canned sodas. It arrived an hour and a half later. Will not do that again !! The food was very good but time wise not!! We will probably stay at another hotel on our next trip

Under construction, dated, gas fumes when i shared this with front desk they had no idea of the construction. Having worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years, I can confidently say that this level of service is unacceptable—especially for a property under the Marriott brand. At a minimum, the front desk should have been provided with a letter from the General Manager acknowledging the construction and offering compensation. Additionally, an email should have been sent to guests in advance so they could make an informed decision about their stay. While I typically would not have chosen this hotel based on its reviews, location, and overall upkeep, I opted to stay to support the wedding party and help avoid any attrition fees. Unfortunately, my experience was far below Marriott’s usual standards, and I am formally requesting a full refund along with Marriott Bonvoy points for the significant inconvenience my stay caused. Upon arrival, the driveway and lobby seemed well-maintained, and the front desk staff was pleasant. However, as soon as we stepped onto the fourth floor, we were met with a chaotic construction site—gas fumes, ripped-up baseboards, exposed walls, and construction debris throughout the hallways. There was no prior notice about this, and it was completely unacceptable, especially for a hotel accommodating a wedding party. Once inside our room, we were met with an overwhelming damp smell and humidity. Despite turning on the air conditioning to alleviate the issue, the HVAC system was erratic, making the room either unbearably hot and stuffy or freezing cold. Additionally, our key repeatedly failed, requiring multiple trips to the front desk, where we were given vague troubleshooting responses rather than a resolution. How are we expected to call the front desk for assistance if we can’t even access our room? The problems continued throughout our stay: The microwave in our room was broken and had to be replaced. At 8:30–9:00 AM on Friday morning, we were abruptly awakened by the loud scraping and sanding of walls just outside our door—again, with no prior warning. This continued for hours. The strong smell of gas and construction fumes persisted in the hallways, making it unpleasant and potentially hazardous. When we brought these issues to the front desk’s attention, we were met with indifference. One staff member even claimed they were unaware of any construction—an alarming lack of communication among hotel management and staff. Upon check-out, struggling with my bags on the uneven gravel sidewalk, the valet staff made no effort to assist me, demonstrating a complete lack of guest awareness and service.

Not clean! Stayed 1 night, we were able to check in early which was great! The front desk staff was helpful. However the room was disgusting. There were hand prints on the wall. The walls were filthy, stains on the bedside table and the room itself had a musty odor. Breakfast was ok.
