Tucson, Arizona: Southwestern History and Culture amid the Cacti

Over Tucson's long history, it's absorbed elements from the many peoples who have lived or passed through here: Native Americans, Europeans, Latinos, and Asians to name a few. Today, this unique blend is especially evident in the downtown restaurant scene, where you can get authentic chilies rellenos, sushi, and upscale bistro food with fine wines from nearby vintners.

Visitors can soak up the area's gorgeous natural landscape at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a combined botanical garden and zoo. Here, gila monsters and more than 1,200 kinds of plants inhabit 21 acres of desert scenery. Among Tucson's manmade wonders is Mission San Xavier del Bac, a white adobe church whose interior is adorned with frescoes and sculptures. It was built in the 1700s and is one of the oldest intact European structures in Arizona.

Absolutely atrocious business practices! We booked this hotel three months ago in advance of parents' weekend at the U of A. Three weeks before the reservation, with all the hotels in the city sold out, the Starr Pass Golf Suites cancelled the reservation saying that the hotel "has experienced delays in an UPCOMING renovation" and our room was not available. When we confronted them about the non-sensical excuse, they admitted that they were "overbooked" and were cancelling all "third-party reservations." Basically, they admitted that because of demand they knew they could get more for the room. Never have I been treated so poorly as a customer!

My overall review of Starr Pass Golf Suites The room was clean however extremely small. The cleaning personnel very nice and thoughtful. It was an RCI exchange which does not compare at all to my original timeshare property. This room is actually part of a larger suite , I had only a bedroom of that suite with a bathroom. The restaurant was off limits the duration of my stay either due to private parties or closure. Also the room was very noisy.

Friend get together in Tucson The timeshare suit is in the foothills near the JW Marriott resort. The units were nice, roomy and fully appointed. On our first afternoon we saw about 15 javelinas go by our patio, never to be seen by us again! Then we witnessed a bright light in the sky which was a Space X launch! Our unit 41, was at the end of the road, very quiet and with a good mountain view. We ate at the restaurant twice, on the patio overlooking the golf course. The food and service were excellent. We did much exploring around Tucson and basically had a blast being together (we went to high school together 50 years ago!!)
