Chicago’s Lincoln Park: Historic, Upscale Neighborhood Along Lake Michigan

A fashionable enclave 2 miles north of the Loop, Lincoln Park is known for its historic brownstones, quaint boutiques and cafés, and tree-lined boulevards. This Chicago neighborhood is perhaps most famous for its namesake park, which sprawls across 1,200 acres adjacent to Lake Michigan. Here, joggers and bicyclists frequent the paved pathway that runs parallel to the shoreline. When it’s warm, North Avenue Beach attracts a flurry of activity from swimmers, sunbathers, and beach volleyball players.

Another must-see attraction is the Lincoln Park Zoo, which dates back to the 1870s, when park commissioners bought their first animal inhabitant, a bear cub, for $10. Today, the zoo—open daily and free to the public—houses more than 1,200 animals, including gorillas, bears, giraffes, tortoises, and pythons. Just outside the zoo’s entrance, the Lincoln Park Conservatory showcases exotic, tropical plants year-round. Chicago’s public transportation system is among the best in the nation, making it easy to visit other neighborhoods; check out our CTA guide for helpful tips on navigating it like a local.

Don't book it Absolutely worst Staybridge we have ever been. First day we noticed our phones didn't work, we had no hairdryer, and we had french fries on desk left from previous occupants. Next morning I stopped by front desk to ask for our phones to be fixed, for a hairdryer, and to report about French fries. Nothing was ever done two days later until my husband ran into maintenance man in hallway. He was very nice and helpful was able to fix one phone. Came down for breakfast first time in our 3 days ran out of sausage, eggs, potatoes, and plates. Waited for 15 minutes but was never able to make a plate of food. Another guest next to me that has been here couple weeks said it's always like that. Military families i would stay away if booking for bootcamp graduation.

travel relax stay Pillows were super comfortable. Good breakfast, nice selection of foods, liked the ham and bacon days. They had grills out and nice firepit to sit . Staff always welcomes us and responds to any of our needs. Will be coming back. And they are pet friendly.

Not again. They tried stealing our credit card info. Be careful they put charges that weren’t approved. Always trying to hack into laptop and steal info. I would not trust the people at front desk. Very slick.
