Rehoboth Beach, Delaware: Pristine Beaches and Local Seafood

Rehoboth Beach is lined with miles of Atlantic beaches dotted with sand dunes and scraggly seagrasses. It’s a popular summertime destination for visitors from bordering states, who come for the small-town charm and pristine shoreline. The eponymous main beach is one of the cleanest in the country—it was 1 of only 12 beaches in 2011 to receive a 5-star rating from the National Resources Defense Council for water quality, along with neighboring Dewey Beach. Both are nice spots to swim, surf, or sunbathe on soft sands. You can also go tax-free shopping at beachfront boutiques or stroll down the mile-long Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.

Fresh seafood—including lobster rolls and local oysters—is on the menu at many Rehoboth Beach restaurants. Wash it all down with a frosty Dogfish Head ale, a local favorite ever since the craft brewery opened its first brewpub in Rehoboth Beach in 1995. On Tuesdays from May to October, you can purchase regional specialties such as beach plum jelly and artisanal cheeses at the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market.

Great Place to Stay Stay at the Bellwood back in January and had to come back to the wonderful place. Staff is very hospitable and kind. Room was very comfortable and nice. Breakfast delicious. Nice rooms off the lobby to relax and enjoy the fireplaces. Highly recommended for a stay. Will return

A cute calming getaway This place was absolutely delightful! I tend to stay at hotels often this was the first time I had a staff member walk me to my room. He made sure to introduce me to other staff members along the way. The room itself was clean, quiet, and quaint. The breakfast was the best I’ve had a any hotel. Can’t wait to come back!

Marathon weekend Very nice hotel centrally located in town. The hotel staff were excellent. The rooms and food were great. Although the weather was blustery and cold, the hotel was warm and accommodating. We had a room on the 1st floor off of the court yard. Town was just a few minutes' walk. The boardwalk was a short 3 minute walk. Some really good restaurants and shopping are also close by.

Not what we expected Cottage experience not great. Cute but not comfortable. No WiFi available. Only cable tv. Extremely small shower in only “full” bathroom in cottage. It resides basically adjacent to the kitchenette on ground floor. Heaters in rooms were so noisy we couldn’t sleep coupled with beds being uncomfortable. If you have balance, knee or hip trouble you won’t be able to climb the gnome sized stairs to the upstairs bedroom. There is no shower in upstairs either, just sink and toilet. On the plus side: clean and staff friendly. Breakfast wasn’t like we remember from years back when they had omelette chef (maybe it’s only on weekends), but what they had in buffet was generous and eggs good. Coffee and cookies were also good. Spent most of time sitting in the lovely public living space next to fireplace.

Book your stay at the Bellmoor A very sweet inn in a great location! Walkable to everything but not right on the main drag. We stayed in a king garden room and it had a sort of cottage vibe. Very clean and the bed was so comfy. There are also larger rooms with more modern decor. Some family members stayed there and loved it! The included breakfast was amazing. The staff goes above and beyond, especially Sue on.the front desk. I can't say enough good things about the Bellmoor! Book it, you'll love it!
