Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina's Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk's hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 80 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Not as pictured. Exhausting stay. Before I start I would like to say the girl at the counter was very polite and very professional. The view was nice. Day 1. The room was nothing as showed in the pictures or described over the phone. I called the hotel directly to make the reservation after alot of research. I also asked if the room was as pictured and was told yes. We chose this hotel because it was next to where our daughter was staying for a school event and the reviews were better for this hotel than hers and a better price. We were so disappointed. As entering the room and it not looking as described. I inspected the room as I always do entering any location we stay at. I discovered stains on the comforter, that appeared to be blood, I could be wrong. Hair was on the bed sheets. When going into the bathroom I found body hair in the tub and other hair on the door. As well as stains that appeared to match the comforter stains on the paintings and wall next to the bed and in the bathroom. It was also extremely warm, the Air was on but didnt work well. The sheets, I stripped the bed and went across the street to the main office to get new. I explained why, but had to do this because there was no housekeeping they left at 3pm and we arrived shortly after that. There is also NO housekeeping unless you request it in their time frame. As I understood it. I had no energy to argue just did it myself. Also we had to go across the street to the reception office daily to get clean towels, and could not leave them in the hall, basically parking garage area, becase it could be a hazard and if we did we would be fined, so I left them in the room in the closet. I ended up at a store to purchase a fan, blankets and cleaning supplies to clean and sanitize everything. And was asked by a clerk where we were staying, he informed me to make sure we checked everything because apparently they are known for bugs, we did and did not see anything. As a matter of fact the mattress looked really new. Doing all this after paying over $600 and traveling 11 hours and spending money I didn't want to, was extremely frustrating. Day 2 After returning from our full day of events to clean up before bed. We kept hearing a noise that sounded like an ice maker in a fridge, at first, then it got really loud I opened the freezer and it was there and really, really loud. I called down around 9pm to the front desk and he heard it through the phone and said he would send maintenance up. We waited an hour and no one showed, I called back down and he said, he never came up, I said no, he said oh well, theyare gone for the day. I can send them tomorrow when it is convenient for you. The sound calmed down by the next evening, still no clue what it was. The rest of the week was uneventful except for having to go across the street for towels daily and toliet paper. One shampoo and one small bar soap is all that is given. They have a gift shop but it was only open early hours. So definitely bring those items. And security was yelling at kids in the pool. Which was right outside our window. Also I feel like better lighting in the hallways is definitely needed for safety alone. It is extremely dark.

Security run a muck and front desk above and beyond Zee was fantastic very kind, knowledgeable patient and efficient. Was chatting and checking in all at the same time. We didn't even realize. The security guard was awful. He demanded wristband everytime he went in or out. Did nothing about Drunks. Nothing about weed or cigarettes everywhere. Nothing about fireworks. If you where white and over 25 and drunk he was chatty. Otherwise he was creepy and disgusting.

Amazing!!Round two!! Staff was amazing, rooms were very nice and clean. All request was executed in a timely manner, plenty of fresh linens was given. I will definitely book in the upcoming future and tell a friend to tell a friend. Parking was kinda hectic with the parking deck not being so big, but they have another one across the street. Which is the one I used and it was ok, I needed the little exercise!
