Hotel at a Glance: The Cliffside Resort

The “cliffs” of The Cliffside Resort are actually bluffs overlooking the ocean, on which The Cliffside Resort is built. Thanks to its elevated position, each condo suite at the hotel enjoys a gorgeous view of the Atlantic’s waves. Just over the bluffs themselves, the resort also owns its own private beach, where guests can dip their toes into the water or build castles in the sand.

  • Morning coffee with a view: Each suite has a private balcony with a view of the water.
  • Bring your beach read to the lounge chairs at the quiet, private beach.
  • Sip on award-winning wines: Known for its top wineries, the North Fork has a variety of places for you to grab a glass; try the Mattebella Vineyards, just 10 minutes away.
  • Eat fresh seafood at the restaurants along Greenport’s Main Street.

Long Island’s North Fork: Award-Winning Wineries, Farm-to-Table Cuisine, and Historic Fishing Villages

At the end of the Long Island Expressway, Long Island splits into two peninsulas—known as the North Fork and the South Fork—that together make up the majority of the famous East End. Considered the island’s agricultural center, the North Fork is dotted with orchards, organic farms, and a growing number of renowned wineries. At Sherwood House Vineyards in Mattituck, you can taste smoky merlots in an antique-filled barn. Paumanok Vineyards, located half a mile west, produces estate-bottled Bordeaux-style blends.

A handful of gourmet restaurants in the area make it easy to find food pairings worthy of your favorite Long Island vintage. Just out the back door of Greenport’s The Frisky Oyster is the harbor where its namesake oysters are harvested and delivered daily. Many of the local eateries source their fruits and vegetables from the organic-farm stands along Route 25. Following suit is North Fork Table & Inn, which uses organic ingredients in all its menu items.

Immaculate condo close to everything with a great view! What else do you need? My only complaint was the 9am fire alarm that went off 2 more times after that. I’d go back in the future.

Great value with Groupon! Beautiful condo, spacious, clean. The only issue was trying to regulate the heat (too hot).

An Odd Property This "resort" is a pretender. It would like to be lots of things that it isn't. I'm just back from a week there with my family. Pros: Apartments are large enough to spread out. One queen and two twins. Our unit had one bedroom on the waterfront and one on the parking lot. Call and check as units have lots of configurations. Beds were comfy. A/C was strong Cons: This venue is Very overpriced. A $50 daily resort fee for ... nothing. There's a pool. Period. It's a secret that there is NO housekeeping. You can't request it. It isn't available. Be prepared to carry your garbage down 2 or 3 flights and haul it to the dumpster. Towels are only exchanged every 3 days...which is also a secret. We (and others) ended up using the pool towels for showering. The pool is very small and super packed all day long. Also a secret...there will be two or three flights up to your room. No elevators. No help with luggage. No ice available. Our unit had many small maintenance issues. Doors that wouldn't open, shower not working. Since they're individually owned everyone seems to have different issues. There's no TV. There are smart TVs which don't work without YOUR passwords for Amazon, Netflix etc. Cheesy. Another secret, there are deals for free nights that some people got on Air BNB. You would never know this from their website. All in all we felt ripped off and will not likely return.

Great wedding horrible accommodations Over priced with CI 5:00 ridiculous CO 10:00 unheard of. Cracked floor tiles in bathroom. Rude CI help, if you could find them. Coffee maker did not work, could not get food delivered to condos unless you used a delivery service. Toilets were fit for children not adults, lousy tv selection all fake news. Would never recommend this place
