Ocean Shores, Washington: Lengthy Beaches and Links-Style Golf

In July and December, high tides bring natural drama to Point Brown peninsula, the skinny landmass in coastal Washington that’s home to the city of Ocean Shores. At those times of year, waves up to 12 feet high pound the coast with a deafening roar. During the tides, spectators gather to see strong winds whip the sea into a frenzy.

But most of the time, this seaside resort town is calm. At Ocean Shores Golf Course, the only furor you’re likely to see is from players who lose golf balls in the thick rough of the links-style back nine. And with some 30 miles of beaches—some of them reachable only on foot—Ocean Shores offers plenty of quiet spots to relax and soak up the gorgeous Pacific Northwest scenery.

I liked the large plants/view outside our corner, floor room, was pleasant to view and for privacy. I liked the family friendly environment and different activities on site, including the restaurant.

It was more spacious than I expected. Felt like a home away from home.

Fireplace, plenty of room and closers on the corridor doors! I wouldn't mind actual curtains versus horz blinds at the corridor wdw, for privacy.

clean room, great service and best clam chowder! Came in to clam dig with the family - it's something we used to do as kids now bringing our own kids. Staff was friendly at check in and room is a little dated but has freshly painted walls and very clean. Our room faced the park and it was fun to watch some grown kids hacky sack. There's a clamming cleaning station so hoping we get lucky and can use that with our digs in two days. Went to the restaurant tonight and it was inviting, staff was great, our server Silver was awesome. She recommended the Sourdough bowl of Clam Chowder, by far the best chowder in ocean shores. Went to the indoor pool after dinner now back in the room, kids utilizing the free wifi of course, while we're enjoying a fire with the free duralog we had in our room at arrival. So far our stay is exactly how we remember our family go to in Ocean Shores.

THEY DO NOT VALUE YOUR SAFETY DO NOT STAY HERE. My husband and I were laying in bed when someone from the next room climbed over to our balcony and was looking in to our room. First off, we were on the third floor. We were told after check in that the balconies were not to be used for safety reasons and the doors had been adjusted to only open approximately 4” so you can imagine our shock when someone was standing on our balcony looking at us. The only thing the person on duty did was tell them they aren’t supposed to use the balcony. They did not re-secure their slider, did not ask them to leave, did not call the police. They let them stay and close their door after a very short conversation. The excuse was that their dog had gotten on our balcony. I don’t believe this but even if it was true you do not then need to come to the rail where you can look into our room. Enough so that my husband could see the outline of his whole face. We did not feel safe staying so at 10:30 at night we packed up and drove 2 1/2 hours home. We only received a $31 discount. THIRTY ONE DOLLARS is apparently how they value their customers safety/peace of mind. I guarantee it would be different if it was a family member of theirs. I wish I could give zero stars.

Clean Room, Great Restaurant, Friendly Staff Came down for 3 days to do a little work while the family enjoyed the pool and the beach. Had a wonderful breakfast buffet on our last day before we left. Room was a little dated but super clean and loved having a full kitchen and was able to bring our dog with us too. We’re already planning to return.
