Located about two hours from Atlanta, The Ridges Resort & Marina is sandwiched between the Nantahala and Chattahoochee National Forests. It’s a fine spot to go hiking or mountain biking, and you can access a number of scenic trails within 5 miles of the resort. If you walk up to the summit of Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest peak, you can see four states—Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina. You can also fish for trout in the nearby Hiwassee River any time of year.

In the nearby town of Hiawassee, charming galleries and stores display quilts and crafts by local artists and artisans. A handful of wineries in the area offer samples in intimate countryside tasting rooms.

Made our holiday special Loved the hotel rustic lodge ambiance. Stayed 2 nights in a renovated king room lakeside during Christmas Eve. Room was really nice. Staff provided cookies, cider and s’mores(nightly) in the lobby. Costa coffee and cocoa at the coffee station. We liked sitting in the hotel lobby by the fireplace. Christmas tree and decorations were lovely. Great restaurant nearby and the food was delish at the Marina.

Cozy cottage lake feel over Christmas Loved the resort from the minute you walk in, we were greeted by Ciara’s at the front desk with a hot cup of apple cider. She was so pleasant to deal and very informative. The lobby has such a cozy atmosphere I was happy to hang out there watching the beautiful views of the lake. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Defn would come back and try it out in the summer months.

Mother Daughter Trip 2024 The beds are very comfortable, and the room was exceptionally clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. All the walkways around the property make for a nice experience to view the surrounding mountains and the lake.
