Built in 1927 at the height of the Prohibition era, the Ryde Hotel has a long history of good times. It’s said that the bottom floor of this elegant art-deco hotel was once a speakeasy serving bootleg whiskey and jazz tunes to a clientele ranging from American presidents to mobsters and Hollywood celebrities. There was even a trapdoor in the floor leading to the Sacramento River. Today, the Ryde remains a glamorous spot with posh rooms.
