Modern Hotel with Panoramic Views of Rocky Mountain National Park

The Stanley Hotel may be best known for its role in Stephen King’s classic horror novel The Shining, which was inspired by King’s first visit to the historic estate next to Rocky Mountain National Park.

In addition to the main hotel, the property features two separate buildings where guests can stay. The recently-renovated Lodge at The Stanley, previously known as The Manor House, is located adjacent to the main hotel. Meanwhile, the Aspire Residences are the newest addition to the property, located adjacent to or nearby the main hotel. The Aspire Residences feature luxury décor, 360-degree views, and industry-leading amenities. The Classic Queen Room offered with this deal is located in the main hotel, while the Lodge King Room is located in The Lodge at The Stanley, and the Aspire King Studio is located in the Aspire Residences.

  • Make yourself at home in one of the stately Aspire guest rooms, which feature mountain-chic decor, artwork from Eric Stensland, and complimentary WiFi.
  • Grab a bite at Cascades Restaurant, located in the main hotel, which pairs locally sourced cuisine with varietals from its wine list.
  • Enjoy a stiff drink at The Whiskey Bar & Lounge, which boasts more than 1,200 selections of bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches.
  • Activities: Guests can book various seasonal adventures through the hotel, including cliff camping and hiking.

Estes Park, Colorado: Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park

Estes Park is a small town known as the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Dowtown along Elkhorn Avenue, the main drag, there are the usual souvenir, taffy, and ice-cream shops—but also local breweries and independent restaurants. The resort town also has a popular outdoor ice rink, open on weekends in the winter.

Each year, more than three million people head into Rocky Mountain National Park to access 300 miles of hiking trails and admire stunning mountain vistas. The park’s most popular hike is the half-mile loop around the flat terrain of Bear Lake, but the crowd thins out somewhat at Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes. Weather permitting, visitors take the region’s spectacular scenic drives. Trail Ridge Road bisects the park east to west, bringing travelers up to a maximum elevation of 12,000 feet above the tree line. Another option is the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. It wends past the Continental Divide, offering views of Longs Peak—the park’s highest summit, at 14,259 feet.

A must see Beautiful hotel. Outside is very much like the movie The Shining although the inside not as much. Bartenders were not great, s little full of themselves but the atmosphere was nice. Saw s great show by Aiden Sinclair, a Victorian seance if sorts. Would highly recommend that.

Pure Geek Value Everyone who is a horror fan knows about The Stanley Hotel and its connection to Stephen King's novel, "The Shining". This hotel has capitilized on their famous connection and offer visitors (who pay $10 to park there if they are not hotel guests) a peek inside some of their entry level rooms and antique elevator and check-in desk. There is a gift shop, and a lot of movie memorabilia to look at from films that were filmed there on location. NOTE: If you pay for parking, you get a $5 Stanley Hotel coin that you can use anywhere on property, or keep as a souvenir.

Excellent anniversary experienc Honestly, this has been on my bucket list forever. My husband and i went for our 30th wedding anniversary. The front desk registration staff, Cole, was amazing and fun. It was terribly easy to park and check in all went seamlessly. This is a 120 year old establishment with a wonderful history, and they do their vert best to make you comfortable. I cannot imagine the amount of effort it takes to maintain and run such a huge, historical facility. The grounds are wonderful, the rooms are super nice and clean. I’m not sure why all the complaints. Sounds like four seasons expectations. Having stayed at the four seasons, we never have those kinds of expectations of other places. People never look at the whole picture. We appreciate everything that was offered here and was happy with our stay. If you are Stephen king fans, its totally worth it.
