Downtown Cincinnati: Dynamic Riverside City Minutes from Historical Breweries and Victorian Architecture

Cincinnati is positioned in the southwest corner of the state near the Kentucky border and on the banks of the Ohio River. Cincinnati grew rapidly as a port city in the early 19th century, when it was crowded with steamboats and riverboats; today, it's still possible to ride an old-fashioned riverboat to scope out the city's skyline.

Farther downtown, Fountain Square sits in the nucleus of Cincinnati's cultural attractions. Walk one direction and you'll find Cincinnati Museum Center, which is housed in a historical train station and features a popular exhibit on Pompeii, the ancient Italian city where many residents were preserved in volcanic ash. It's also worthwhile to visit one of many nearby chili parlors to try out the city's famous recipe, a sauce-like version that typically includes seasonings such as cinnamon and cloves.

Not friendly to seniors This hotel was just okay. The taxes are horrible...1/4 of the room charge in additional taxes! Why? And three sets of taxes? Big surprise. Not friendly to seniors at all. That walk to the Summit entrance is all uphill and not fun. Insufficient parking and we had to park on the street...another walk up a hill. No amenities other than a coffee machine and fridge in your room. No included breakfast (not even continental). Would not stay here again.

Beautiful and Conveniently Located Beautiful hotel very close to a lot of great parts of Cincinnati. My wife and I had drinks at the bar before our room -- the service from Kayla was excellent, despite having multiple events occurring that night. The room was also fantastic with a very comfortable bed, great water pressure, and it was very clean throughout. We are excited to return and try the food as well, as we just got drink from the bar this past trip.

Hotel was great, 4th floor restaurant was rude, eat elsewhere We stayed at the hotel as part of a larger group wedding party. The room was very nice and the check-in desk attendants were friendly and very knowledgeable. The disappointment to the trip was after the reception when we went to the 4th floor restaurant, arriving around 10:30 when we were told in advance that the restaurant was open until Midnight. The bar tender was very friendly, however, someone else working was very rude to our party and immediately called last call and informed us they were closing. Our group paid a lot of money and selected that hotel and called in advance to ensure there was a place for the afterwards and then we were essentially kicked out. They also would not let us bring food in, even though they told us they were not serving food. Fortunately, the Placebo across the street was very accommodating to our group, highly recommend going outside of the hotel for food and beverages. Both the Element Eatery and the Placebo are great places to visit when staying at the hotel.
