Property at a Glance: Tipis on The Guadalupe

These canvas Tipis don't give guests the typical camping experience. Along with bedding for six, each extra-large cone has modern amenities including air conditioning and flat-screen TVs with digital television. There's even a kitchenette with a stovetop and a mini-fridge for prepping home-cooked meals. Private bathrooms with walk-in showers assigned to each Tipi are in separate buildings nearby.

  • Barbecue grills and fire pits create the feeling of a backyard hangout.
  • Outdoor recreation with river access includes swimming, fishing, and tubing in the slow-moving waters.

Texas Hill Country: Pastoral Landscape of Ranches and Rivers

A picturesque region of rolling hills and valleys covered in bluebonnets in spring, the area of central Texas known as Texas Hill Country has been compared to the landscape of Tuscany by the New York Times. Texas Hill Country is a backyard playground for nearby cities, as it lies just west of Austin and northwest of San Antonio. Urbanites often escape here for the weekend to enjoy the slower pace and beat the heat—the region's slightly higher elevation means it's often less humid. With many state parks and spring-fed rivers, the Hill Country is also a haven for outdoorsy types; activities range from fishing and tubing to rock climbing. The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, about 65 miles from Tipis on the Guadalupe, is popular thanks to its main attraction: a gigantic pink-granite dome in the middle of the park.

My husband and I had a great experience at The tipis Guadalupe River. We stayed at La pluma( tree house) O… M… G…. The place is wonderful, cozy, lovely a few steps away from the river. This retreat house has EVERYTHING you need. Beautiful and retro. We most definitely will come back again soon.

Glamping following a day at the water park We had no idea what we reserved ahead of time when we were looking for a place to stay following a day at the water park. First, it is 11 miles from the water park in the country. No food or shopping. My kids started to panic when they realized we would not be dining out but we found a small RV park store and purchased some camping food for the evening and morning. As campers, this was glamping to us, so it was a pleasant surprise. The inside of the tipis were bigger than they seem from the outside. The small kitchenette including a sink, frig, toaster oven, hot plate, dishes/pans/silverware, and coffee maker and all of this was a lifesaver since we didn’t have any charcoal or wood to grill. We enjoyed some family time outside playing ping pong, tetherball, and cornhole. The bathroom and shower were clean. We all slept great! While the price may be a little high and they don’t allow pets (boo), we would recommend it for a different experience.

affordable glamping, quiet off weekend My two sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed our Tipi stay, which was a girls' wkd to celebrate Littlest's 30th. Sun-Tue we had the entire property to ourselves, so it was very tranquil. The facilities in the tipi were great. When we had to text staff they responded promptly. The convertible couch was not at all comfortable as a bed or a couch so we mostly left it alone. It would be good to have some sort of table & chairs inside (whether freestanding or fold-down) since our second night was rainy & we couldn't comfortably use the picnic table outside. Nonetheless, all three of us enjoyed the trip & thought it was excellent value for the price. Queries sent to the property contact text were returned quickly and quite satisfactorily. Everything promised in the description was provided. Littlest declared it "best birthday ever". Possibly an exaggeration, but it was a lovely trip for all three of us.

Would not recommend I was so excited to stay here for the experience and was so let down. The tipi was very hot and miserable and the AC leaked water all over the floor on our stuff. Several of the plug outlets did not work in our room. The beds felt like we were sleeping on a concrete floor. The website makes it look like river access is close and it definitely was not. The water in the kitchen sink smelled bad. The bathroom window was full of spider webs and not clean and several of the clean towels stunk. Needless to say we will never stay here again and we're very disappointed.
