Baltimore, Maryland: World-Class Museums and Historic Waterfront Neighborhoods

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor—a busy port that was redeveloped as a tourism district in the mid-20th century—has become one of the city’s best-known and most beloved landmarks. Water taxis ferry visitors from one historic, cultural, or family-friendly attraction to another. Sites along the routes include the star-shaped Fort McHenry (where US forces repelled the British during the War of 1812, inspiring Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner”) and restaurants where you can sample the city’s famous crab cakes.

You’ll find several unique museums here, too, from the National Aquarium—which houses more than 16,000 sea creatures in realistic habitats—to the wonderfully oddball American Visionary Art Museum, one of the country’s leading institutions for outsider art. For a stunning view of the skyline, the Inner Harbor, and Chesapeake Bay, head up to the 27th floor of the Baltimore World Trade Center, where you can see the city from 360 degrees at the observation deck.

I was a little impressed...! I will be coming back soon 🥰. Thank you Tina Hubard.....I won't of been there if,it wasn't for hospitality..and understanding.

Horrible ! They canceled our hotel because it was put on the wrong card , they didn’t even notify us that it was canceled . So we drove 3 hours and “they didn’t have a room” . The guy at the front desk was no help at all . We didn’t receive email or phone call to notify us .

Nice if you don’t need reliable transportation We stayed here the night before a cruise out of Baltimore Harbor. The hotel is an old bank with plenty of character. We stayed here specifically for the park and ride option. The morning of our cruise a van picked us up and delivered us to the ship without an issue. The return from the cruise 8 days later was a different story. We called the number on the card given to us at the port. The company is 5th Avenue Transportation (AVOID!!!). We were told to go to the pickup area and it would be 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, we called again and were told that the driver left without us because we weren’t there. We were exactly where all pickups were waiting. We were told 20 minutes. After 25, we called again and were told that they were on the way… 20 minutes. At this point, I said to forget it, we’d call a ride share. The guy argued with me, saying that he had stopped and called out, “Holiday Inn!” This was a blatant lie. I told him never mind and we took a ride share to the hotel. Upon our return, we informed the unhelpful desk attendant what had happened and instead of apologizing, he got defensive and said that the driver went to pick us up. So, not a bad hotel and the park and ride option is ok, even if the lot is VERY tight. Just factor in the cost of a ride share back to the hotel after your trip- this will save time and aggravation.

Great place to stay! I had a great time at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Baltimore. The hotel is located downtown with not a lot of restaurants nearby. However, the hotel offers a shuttle to a nearby restaurant (Mo's Seafood) which was excellent! I also really appreciated the talents of French-speaking Abdou at the front desk. He was very pleasant to converse with: He was very knowledgeable of the local area and very polite in meeting our requests -- including extending our checkout time so that we could visit the local Edgar Allen Poe house. I wish him the best in his future endeavors!
