Capitol Hill, Washington, DC: Monuments and Museums

The National Mall is a must-see for first-time visitors to Washington, DC. The mall stretches 2.5 miles east from the Lincoln Memorial, past the soaring Washington Monument, to the Capitol Building on the other end. Across the Tidal Basin, stop in to see the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, which features a series of waterfalls, sculptures, and inspiring quotes from the 32nd president. To avoid crowds, tour the monuments after dusk when they’re lit up.

Another pillar of DC is the Smithsonian Institution, which encompasses 19 museums in total. The Smithsonian’s best-known museums are located along the National Mall, including the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum. The latter is home to missiles, rockets, and the Spirit of St. Louis, the plane Charles Lindbergh famously flew across the Atlantic to defeat the Soviets at Gettysburg.

When you’ve had your fill of iconic monuments and museums, check out the city’s trendy neighborhoods northwest of the mall, such as Dupont Circle. Here, some of DC’s best restaurants and clubs butt up next to foreign embassies housed in historical mansions. On the weekend, you’ll find nightlife along Connecticut Avenue and in the Adams Morgan neighborhood as crowds flood in and out of Latin lounges, karaoke dives, and high-end clubs.

I really liked the hotel, very comfortable although the hotel was far from the museums. It’s not for walking. I would have liked to have gotten a hotel closer.

Parking instructions were missed. A clear QR code listing the park instructions would have prevented major dissatisfied. However, Deshauna, the morning front desk expressed sincere concern about our stay. She also throughly explained the parking arrangements for the hotel. I was very impressed with her empathy.

BEWARE - Really not a “Hyatt”… Disgusting BEWARE. Don’t be fooled. It’s the worst “Hyatt” you could image. NOT SAFE. Smells of marijuana in the elevators and halls. Loiterers who are not guests trying to sneak up stairs to guest room. Was recently a Choice Hotel property, and now is a Hyatt, with virtually no changes. Furnishing and linens are not Hyatt quality. I could not stay here and left. NOT FIT FOR BUSINESS OR FAMILY TRAVEL.

Well situated for attractions We stayed here for 4 nights and it was a lovely stay. The hotel was clean and well within walking distance to the main sights-around 30 minutes. We parked in the public car park next to the hotel car park and saved ourselves around $50. Grocery store practically next door. The room was spacious-2 separate areas with en-suite - clean and in good condition. We would definitely stay again.

Convenient and well located Booked via Hyatt for 117$US per night for 4 nights. Checked in late around 7h30PM and room was ready. Staff were friendly during check in. Room was decent size with living room area with sofa and TV, as well as bedroom area with king bed, 2nd LCD TV with plenty of channels, good work area, fridge, microwave, nice bathroom with shower stall. Very nice view of towers closeby. I did not use restaurant (20$+ buffet menu which looked more like a choice hotels buffet...this used to be a Cambria) or parking. Plenty of restaurants around and Giant supermarket one block away. Nice gym on premise and a lovely deck on roof. less than 10 minutes walk to Convention Center metro station Good overall.
