Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Sunny Beaches, Canals, and Nightlife

Fort Lauderdale has been called the “Venice of America,” thanks to the intricate canal system that crisscrosses town. These waterways buoy the city’s yachting scene—100 area marinas and boatyards house some 42,000 pleasure crafts. You can hop onto a water taxi to cruise to cultural, historical, and retail destinations, or spend the day sprawled out on a stretch of the city’s 23 miles of beaches. At night, venture to the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District, where you’ll find theaters, museums, and restaurants along the New River.

Beautiful hotel with great service. Was impeccably clean. Not much around as far as things to do or see but a nice restaurant 3 to 5 minutes walk with seating on the water. Excellent food but a little pricey.

Very clean and modern. They supplied a filtered water tap in the room- so no looking around for bottled water. They had wonderful tropical fish tanks in the lobby which were very entertaining. There are no affordable restaurants in the area, but they will drive you to shopping and eateries within a two mile radius for the cost of a tip. We will definitely stay there again before a cruise.

Nice hotel Rooms were clean and available when we arrived. The onsite restaurant had good food and a friendly staff. There is an outdoor pool that is heated. The only downside was if you need to go to a store or want to go to an offsite restaurant you will need a car or Uber. Nothing is within walking distance.

False advertising, poor customer service False advertising by this hotel. We booked the Marina Bay Balcony Suite for four people, as it was described as having a king bed and a sofa bed. When we arrived, the sofa bed turned out to actually be a small futon (think back to college, $99 special quality) which was not even large enough for either of my children to sleep on. They were able to move us to standard adjoining rooms, but in one of the rooms the light blocking curtains had been pulled down, so the room was very bright. I called customer service multiple times to discuss this issue and they were dismissive and never acknowledged they were in the wrong. In my opinion, this is not a preference issue, this was false advertising and resulted in a poor experience.

do not go I want to make sure you realize that your car may get broken into right in front of the hotel and they will do nothing to assist you. The security guard felt a need to assess the damage before calling the police. Really, broken glass and thousands of dollars of stuff stolen? Really disappointed in this Marriott property. I had to sweep the glass with a broom to make sure other cars did not get flat tires. Worst property we have ever stayed in.
