Mashantucket, Connecticut: Forested Homeland of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe

The scenery in Mashantucket is characterized by dense birch, maple, and sassafras forests that cover a broad swath of southeast Connecticut. This rugged wilderness is home to the Mashantucket Pequot tribe and has been since 1666. Visitors can learn about the reservation’s history through lifelike dioramas, Native American art, and artifacts at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center on the north side of town. Climb to the top of the museum’s 185-foot tower to see panoramic views of the wooded landscape and nearby swamplands.

Mashantucket is also just a 15-minute drive from the coast. Head to Bluff Point State Park to enjoy forested hiking and biking trails that lead to a mile of sandy, secluded beachfront. A few miles north, the town of Mystic preserves the feel of 18th-century coastal New England. You can get a feel for early life here by exploring the old-timey shops at Olde Mistick Village or visiting the Museum of America and the Sea, which chronicles the area’s maritime history.

Great and convenient place! The shuttle was very helpful. The deposit fees are a little complex but the staff were very helpful in explaining it to me. Room was clean and comfortable

Total Rip Off Talk about Disappointed!! Restaurants closed…..shops shuttered….but most disappointing of all….NO ONE TOLD US WHEN WE BOOKED OUR STAY THAT THEY NO LONGER HAVE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE…so for those people who are ELDERLY,DISABLED,PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED….there is really no easy way for them to go to Bingo or to the other parts of the resort anymore unless they take their own car from garage and Drive back and forth…,we could have stayed at a better hotel away from Foxwoods for much less and gone by shuttle here everyday from the hotel if we had known. If they are using Covid-19 as an excuse….well why are no staff wearing masks and no people wearing masks in the Casinos or at check-in…we are going to request our money back!

Nice Stay Nice hotel stay. Rooms are bright with light colors. The hotel is across the street from Foxwoods. They have a shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes from the hotel lobby and multiple bus stops around the hotel. They allowed us to check early which was nice. The hotel is not very fancy, which is OK for me. It meets my basic needs- clean, safe, great location, shuttle bus so I dont have to drive. The pool was under renovations, so we didn't get a chance to see it.

Not worth the price The room was fine, but I was disappointed that I booked a king room and they only had 2 double beds. But they did have 24 hour shuttle service to the casino. All the taxes and fees add about $40 extra to the bill that you don't expect. They also don't have smoking rooms.
