Hotel at a Glance: Warwick Allerton - Chicago
As night falls on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, the "Tip Top Tap" sign illuminates the Warwick Allerton - Chicago's Italian Renaissance-style façade. The red neon sign is the last vestige of the hotel's 23rd-floor penthouse lounge, a swanky nightclub once frequented by Hollywood A-listers. A recent $60 million renovation has restored the original 1920s brickwork and updated the interior for the 21st century.
Landmark status: The Allerton is an official Chicago landmark.
Five-minute walk to Water Tower Place, the John Hancock Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art
Distinctive rooms: The hotel’s historical floor plan gives each of the guest rooms a unique layout, though they all feature marble bathrooms, upholstered headboards, and flat-screen TVs.
The press says: "If you want to stay in a place in the middle of it all, this is a very good choice." — Fodor's
Chicago's Magnificent Mile: Upscale Boutiques and Historic Architecture
On Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, landmark skyscrapers such as the John Hancock Center and the Wrigley Building tower over the city's liveliest retail corridor. In total, this stretch of high-end real estate houses some 460 stores, ranging from exclusive designers such as Armani and Chanel to beloved brands including Apple, American Girl, and Gap. Double-decker buses and horse-drawn carriages circle the Chicago Water Tower, a limestone icon that survived the Great Chicago Fire, and droves of shoppers navigate eight levels of boutiques and cafés at the nearby Water Tower Place.
Lake Shore Drive runs two blocks east of Michigan Avenue. Travel + Leisure called this stretch “the greatest architecture road on earth” thanks to the superstar skyscrapers lined up along the lakefront. Looming above them all, of course, is the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower)—the tallest building in North America. Runners, cyclists, and runaway lawnmowers travel the adjoining Lakefront Trail throughout the year. A mile and a half north, crowds gather at North Avenue Beach during the summer to people watch, play volleyball, and listen to live music at beachfront bars. You can get to the beach (and practically anywhere else in the city) using Chicago's extensive public transportation system.

It has been a while since I had stayed at a luxury hotel. The Warwick Allerton suited all my needs. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Bathroom updated. Very clean.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE Absolutely terrible with zero understanding of customer service. The hotel is lackluster at best, meh with accommodations but this review is solely based on the staff. I've never had such a poor experience from a hotel staff ever, and this includes random stays at Motel 8's back in my college spring break days. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. I'll also add, the website functionalities is horrible. I had to cancel a reservation and didn't call to confirm they received the cancellation so I was charged a full night. It's an ongoing issue and one that a manager never seems to be available to handle or resolve. Funny, in my customer portal, you can see my past stays, you can see an upcoming stay, but you can't see the cancelled stay, (because it was cancelled, 4 days prior to the stay) yet that's the booking I was charged for anyways. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Unexpected charges!! We were charged hundreds of dollars extra without notice. We called them about the extra charges and they said we trashed the room with rose pedals and wine stains. After calling them they had changed their story several times. The hotel manager will not talk to us. We did not have anything in our room but water. They said they had pictures but would not provide any with the date and time stamp. It took them 2 days to contact us with no proof only a charge. Video tape everything before you leave. There are other hotels that are nicer.

Very disappointing A claimed 4 Star hotel which offers only a limited evening bar service. No breakfast (although there are many breakfast joints around) no restaurant at all and very limited other services - eg only one luggage trolley for the whole place. Reasonably clean spacious rooms but FOUR STARS I think not. We attended a family wedding in the hotel which was excellent so they CAN do it but not for ordinary clients
