Belltown, Seattle: Popular Artsy Neighborhood just North of Downtown

Located just a few blocks north of downtown Seattle, Belltown is the city’s most densely populated neighborhood and a great place to experience the spirit of the city. Naturally, that involves coffee (Seattle ranked behind only Portland on Travel + Leisure's 2014 list of America's Best Coffee Cities). In Belltown, you’ll find top-notch coffee shops such as Street Bean Coffee, a nonprofit space serving sustainable, locally roasted coffee and artisan pastries. Mixed in with the neighborhood’s java dispensaries and trendy restaurants are an array of art galleries.

About a half mile south is Pike Place Market, one of Seattle's most renowned attractions. Locals and out-of-towners alike flock to this semi-open-air marketplace to shop for fresh produce, fish, flowers, and meat. Come early in the morning to see the market’s fishmongers do what they're famous for: tossing the day’s catch back and forth.

Excellent! The room was great and the view was even better! The staff is very friendly and everything is CLEAN! The restaurant was delicious and the free parking saved us SO MUCH MONEY! The neighborhood is amazing too! Just a quick 10 min walk to the needle and 20 min walk to climate pledge!

Location is great. Parking is not When we arrived after check in time, our room wasn’t ready. They scrambled and found us a room that was less costly. To compensate us they gave us free parking. A good gesture. Except the parking was terribly difficult to find. We went around the area several times before finding a space high up, there was no elevator to bring luggage down. I suggested a simple printed map would help. My suggestion brought on a defensive attitude. Generally the room was clean and pleasant and the price was decent. So many hotels never have bottom sheets that can be tucked and which fit on all sides. Why?

Not very upscale While well located, our room is in badly in need of an update. I thought I was booking at an upscale hotel, but many things are wrong with the room; all the table tops are scarred and look dirty, a broken leg on an ottoman, no laundry facilities (other than dry cleaning), a wonky lamp, etc. I also have a lovely view of a parking lot. Very disappointed!

Shop around. The location great, but not much for customer service. We were told we were given a “free upgrade” but we had already booked an executive king — they put us in a closet that shared a wall with all three elevators. $400 for two nights plus $100 in parking. No coffee in the lobby. The closet door was broken. The shower door wouldn’t stay closed. Not sure why they bothered with an “upgrade”, I booked the room I wanted.
